I have a bachelor degree, but the requirements from job to job to prove you have a bachelor degree seem different. Some just say 'have a bachelor degree'. Some want a notarized copy of transcripts. Some want sealed transcripts. Some want a diploma (some say notarized, some not).

Doing it differently for each job seems way to time consuming since the criminal background (I think) expires in 6 months.

So how long does it take to get your transcripts notarized and apostilled? I know getting an FBI background check takes 4 months or so, is it necessary to wait that long to get your proof of college done too?

Is there a universal proof that you have a college degree that most jobs will take seriously? Is it sealed transcripts or something else?

What country are you interested in?

For Japan, you can provide the original degree itself, or if you fear for its return/damage, you can provide a certified copy. Sometimes sealed transcripts will also be asked for when an original diploma/degree is not provided.

As for notarized transcripts, I see no need if the school itself sends them to you in a sealed envelope. How long it takes to get them will depend on your school, so contact them.

I've never, ever been asked for notarised transcripts, though I have been asked for the rest. Which places want notarised copies of transcripts? So I get them ahead of time and avoid the frantic rush.

Got my degree notarised, but not apostillised. (though I could do that, but that would mean getting a paper stapled to it. FYI: there's really no point it getting the original notarised or apostillised since notarisation proves is that it's a real and true copy of the original and if you already have the original. The purpose of this is so that you can show the copies and keep the original in a safe place)

Got a replacement degree since I didn't want the notarisation on it.

Got ten copies of my degrees notarised and apostillised

Got 5 sealed transcripts.

Opened one and scanned it so I can send that when I apply for jobs.

FBI checks are only good for 6 months, so can't really do that too far in advance. Then you'll probably have to get it apostillised as well.

You can get them done in a day. Go tot he bank, get it notarised, go to the Sec of State, get it apostillised. If you have to mail it, add another two weeks for snail mail, or a couple days for a rush order.

You can do the FBI check and all the other paperwork at the same time. NO need to wait for one to do the other.
