Nooberies and Oldberries! Post the lyrics of your fave travel pics and travellin toons!

Here's one of mine!

I don't want nothing
Nothing but you
Am I waiting
Looking for a new blue moon
I'm so tired waiting
Waiting for you
Am I waiting
Looking for a new blue moon

So many moons have come and gone
And none of them were blue
So many times the son came up but
Came up without you, you, ya yoo hoo oo

(Chorus)
You don't call me
Call me lonely
Am I waiting
Looking for a new blue moon

(Chorus)

Someday when you hold me
Someday you may see
I was waiting
Looking for a new blue moon
I was waiting
Looking for a new blue moon

Blue Moon

This is by The Clash from the late seventies;

I'm s-o-o-o-o bored with the U S A
I'm s-o-o-o-o bored with the U S A
But what can I do-o-o-o

Yankee dollar talk to the dictators of the world
And they listen very carefully
'cuz they can't afford to miss a word
I'm s-o-o-o-o bored with the U S A
But what can I d-o-o-o

and so on...

I lit out from Reno, I was trailed by twenty hounds
Didn't get to sleep last night 'till the morning came around.

Set out runnin' but I take my time
A friend of the devil is a friend of mine
If I get home before daylight, I just might get some sleep tonight.

Ran into the devil, babe, he loaned me twenty bills
I spent the night in Utah in a cave up in the hills.

Set out runnin' but I take my time, a friend of the devil is a friend of mine,
If I get home before daylight, I just might get some sleep tonight.

I ran down to the levee but the devil caught me there
He took my twenty dollar bill and vanished in the air.

Set out runnin' but I take my time
A friend of the devil is a friend of mine
If I get home before daylight, I just might get some sleep tonight.

Got two reasons why I cry away each lonely night,
The first one's named Sweet Anne Marie, and she's my hearts delight.
The second one is prison, babe, the sheriff's on my trail,
And if he catches up with me, I'll spend my life in jail.

Got a wife in Chino, babe, and one in Cherokee
The first one says she's got my child, but it don't look like me.

Set out runnin' but I take my time,
A friend of the devil is a friend of mine,
If I get home before daylight, I just might get some sleep tonight.

*
Grateful Dead, friend of the devil. Good tune.

I Will Follow Him by Lesley Gore

Love him, I love him, I love him,
And where he goes Ill follow, Ill follow, Ill follow.

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go.
There isnt an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high, it can't keep me away.

I must follow him, ever since he touched my hand I knew,
That near him I always must be.
And nothing can keep him from me,
He is my destiny.

I love him, I love him, I love him,
And where he goes Ill follow, Ill follow, Ill follow.
Hell always be my true love, my true love, my true love,
From now until forever, forever, forever.

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go,
There isnt an ocean too deep.
A mountain so high it can't keep, keep me away,
Away from my love.

I love him, I love him, I love him,
And where he goes Ill follow, Ill follow, Ill follow.
Hell always be my true love, my true love, my true love,
From now until forever, forever, forever.

I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go,
There isnt an ocean too deep.
A mountain so high, it can't keep, keep me away,
Away from my love.

And where he goes,
Ill follow, Ill follow, Ill follow,
I know Ill always love him. (Repeat to fade)

From the ice age to the dole age
there is but one concern
and I have just discovered
some girls are bigger than others
some girls are bigger than others
some girls mother's are bigger than other girl's mothers

As Anthony said to Cleopatre as he opened a bottle of ale
Ooooo I say, "some girls are bigger than others"
"some girls are bigger than others"
"some girls mothers are bigger than other girls mothers"

On the shop floor there is a calender
as obvious as snow
as if we didn't know
some girls are bigger than others
some girls are bigger than others
some girls mothers are bigger than other girl's mothers

I met you in the elevator
and we did the mashed potato
had a pocket full of rye
you punched me in the eye
and ya said "i'll see ya later"

Oooo I was feelin kinda funky
I was dancing like a monkey
I was chewin on a stogie
I was singing karoke

Catch you in the rye
Catch you in the rum
you leave me high n dry
when the hooch is all done
Catch you in the rye
Catch in the Rum
you love me now, but not for long......

your're the cream in my coffee
your're the gin in my martini
your're the vodka in my tonic
your're the rum in my zombie
yeah.....your the cats pajamas
your're the bees knees
I'm a rat on a sinking ship...
your're the bats in my bellfry....

Catch you in the rye
Catch you in the rum
you leave me high n dry
when the hooch is all done
Catch you in the rye
Catch in the Rum
you love me now, but not for long......

And when you drink my last dollar
and then you tell me that its over
oh you swore you'd love me tender
but you'll forget me when your sober....

and when you ditch me in the desert
and i was a million miles from nowhere
When I passed out I was thinking
I am glad I am here somewhere....

Having lived in 4 different countries over the past year, this song really hits the spot:

Turn the Page ::: Bob Seger

On a long and lonesome highway, east of omaha.
You can listen to the engine moaning out its one lone song
You can think about woman, or the girl you knew the night before,
But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do.
When your riding sixteen hours and theres nothing much to do
And you dont feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through.
Say, here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Well you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road,
You can feel the eyes upon you as your shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesnt bother you, but you just want to explode.
Most times you cant hear em talk, other times you can.
Oh the same old cliche, as that woman on her a man
You always see my number, you dont dare make a stand.
Here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Out there in the spotlight your a million miles away,
Every ounce of energy, you try and give away,
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play.
Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed,
With the echo from the amplifiers ringing in your head,
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said.
Now here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Ah here I go, playing star again.
There I go, there I go.

The Guild League -
Siamese Couplets

The international language of smiles,
sticky spilled cola makes its way down the aisles.
The bus driver steers like hes trying to surprise us.
Elephant beers come in two different sizes.
Uniform-starched stewardess on the coaches.
Army ants march and the jungle encroaches.
Tickets are touted as the rubber rots.
Stricken live chickens travelling in a box.

Gecko-green treasures on the vertical tiles.
My minutes are measured in nautical miles.
Ferang-fed monkeys boldly approach.
Stop at the market for barbecued cockroach.
Step from the airport. Smack! The heat hits you.
Beautiful ladies in here mister, mister!
The air in Bankok is brown like a stain
and the whole town stops for falling rain

I love a liquid horizon,
sun low enough to keep your eyes on.
So much to say we could sit on the sand.
Spice in our bellies and ice in our hands.

Everyone talks at you, down in the south.
Never bring the fork up to your mouth.
The broken tailed cat always knows where the fish go.
Dodgems in Trat look and sound like a disco.
An elephants trunk sniffs the blood on its head.
An old orange monk lights up a winfield red.
Cambodia to Myan Mar, Laos to Malaysia.
Welcome to the centre of south east Asia.

I love a liquid horizon.

'ang on, I've changed me mind! This is my more relevant tune!

Shore Leave
(Tom Waits 1982)

Well with buck shot eyes and a purple heart
I rolled down the national stroll
And with a big fat paycheck strapped to my hip sack
And a shore leave wristwatch underneath my sleeve
In a Hong Kong drizzle on Cuban heels
I rowed down the gutter to the Blood Bank
And I'd left all my papers on the Ticonderoga
And was in a bad need of a shave
I slopped at the corner on cold chow mein
And shot billards with a midget until the rain stopped
And I bought a long sleeved shirt with horses on the front
And some gum and a lighter and a knife
And a new deck of cards (with girls on the back)
And I sat down and wrote a letter to my wife

And I said Baby, I'm so far away from home
And I miss my Baby so
I can't make it by myself
I love you so

Well I was pacing myself trying to make it all last
Squeezing all the life out of a lousy two day pass
I had a cold one at the Dragon with some Filipino floor show
I talked baseball with a lieutenant over a Singapore sling
And I wondered how the same moon outside over this Chinatown fair
Could look down on Illinois and find you there
You know I love you Baby

I'm so far away from home
I'm so far away from home
And I miss my Baby so
I can't make it by myself
I love you so

Shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave
Shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave
Shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave
Shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave, shore Leave
Shore Leave

Wandered into the courtyard of a place in Germany once and there was little band playing this one. Funny how a song you never paid much attention to can make you weep when you're homesick. I just sat down and leaned against a wall over in the corner and let the tears drip off my chin. I think the musicians were the only ones that saw me. Probably no better compliment.

The City of New Orleans
by Steve Goodman

Riding on the City of New Orleans,
Illinois Central Monday morning rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders,
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail.
All along the southbound odyssey
The train pulls out at Kankakee
Rolls along past houses, farms and fields.
Passin' trains that have no names,
Freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles.

CHORUS:
Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

Dealin' card games with the old men in the club car.
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score.
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor.
And the sons of pullman porters
And the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpets made of steel.
Mothers with their babes asleep,
Are rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel.

CHORUS

Nighttime on The City of New Orleans,
Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee.
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness
Rolling down to the sea.
And all the towns and people seem
To fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news.
The conductor sings his song again,
The passengers will please refrain
This train's got the disappearing railroad blues.

Good night, America, how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

LOVE THOSE SONG LYRICS! (City of New ORleans)

Where might I hear this tune played??

Sounds like an old working song, just like my favorites from Workingman's Dead.

"I live five years if I take my time, ballin' that jack and drinkin' my wine."

Artist: Tori Amos
Album: Unknown
Title: I Don't Like Mondays

the silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload
And nobody抯 gonna go to school today
She抯 gonna make them stay at home
And daddy doesn抰 understand it
He always said she was good as gold

And he can see no reason
'cause there are no reason
What reason do you need to be shown

Tell me why
I don抰 like mondays
Tell me why
I don抰 like mondays
I don抰 like
I don抰 like
I don抰 like mondays
Tell me why
I don抰 like mondays
I want to shoot
The whole day down
Down, down, shoot it all down

All the playing抯 stopped in the playground now
She wants to play with her toys awhile
And school抯 out early and soon we抣l be learning
