Edit: Also, it does seem to me that you clearly do not seem to understand the IELTS criteria, and seem to simply be trading in conspiracy theories of your own making. While I think there are some differences between the TOEFL and IELTS, and I have heard some say that the TOEFL as a whole is viewed as more academically rigorous due to the way the test overlaps, that is not really the point. Your constant suggestion that the format is corrupt just doesn't add up. The fact that you add little weight or proof of this and engage in speculation and possibility doesn't really cut it.
Interestingly, the poster added this, more on the debate content, later to the original post. I am glad the poster hears what some say, although his/her constant and hostile off topic suggestions and judgements derail.

Seems like no matter what those with experiences say some are determined to discredit them. Not a wonder, is it?

Again, you're going to have to be clearer. I don't get your point.

I think I am a little lost too. The topic seems to be too slippery a theme to get a good grasp of. I thought it had been addressed in a concise, clear manner by the other posters, but is seems not. Perhaps I am wrong. Impenetrably incoherent posts do not help. I had thought it was about some conflict of interest between teachers' schools and test centres. But now that that claim was more or less successfully refuted, the topic now appears to be about some fundamental flaw in IELTS per se. It is easy to get lost...

To clarify matters, how about some actual evidence please? Convoluted talk about 'reasoning', 'proofs' and 'experiences' is all very well, but I cannot see comments informed by much of these, sorry IgorG. Broad, wholly subjective statements about IELTS or TOEFL are not the same thing at all. For example, IELTS Reading lacks 'some appropriately academic concept'? Who really says or believes this? You? Why? On what basis do you make such a claim? What does such a claim even mean? Please justify your comments, especially as they are far, far away from accepted opinion. That is to say the opinion of almost everyone who is seriously involved in testing.

Why such animus towards a standardised test?

Yes, perhaps towards the ones with reasoning, and facts about the BC's practices on mainland China. Don't muddle the tests vs the ones who are responsible for them! So much for clarifying above.

Reading this topic is like watching a horrendous train wreck with observers strenuously advising a conductor blissfully unaware of the fact that he is driving the train, much less headed for disaster.

I am trying to work out what language I am fluent in because it certainly isn't the one being used here.

Who on the thread are qualified IELTS examiners, pray tell?
I'd assume that these are the ones to pay attention to.

My reasonings are not to be muddled with derailing judegments. you say proofs yet i am saying that analysing the topic is not the poster. See if I am wrong aside from the things! It is well known to be IELTS, as are all other non-TOEFL experienced ones.
