I received an e-mail from a representative of a program called The Language Key which focuses on teaching Business English to corporations.
I read that they faced some financial trouble after getting involved with some holding company. However, they are still offering part-time work (which they offered to me).
Does anybody know anything about this company? Are they just another EF type of place or do they operate more as a recruiter, shipping out foreigners to businesses to teach ESL? |

I did two corporate jobs for this company. One job went well with no problems; the second gig had issues including transportation that was supposed to be provided and a few late monthly payments, mostly due to the incompetence of one of their service managers in Shanghai. The corporate market seems to be up and down and many of these types of corporate training companies fly by the seat of their pants, especially when they sign contracts and hire trainers outside the cities where they have their main offices. All of the corporate jobs I've done in China were 12-weeks long. Language Key also made me complete student progress reports and write a final class report before they paid me my bonus, which was actually RMB50 withheld from each session to make sure I finished the courses. If they pay for transportation and RMB200 per contact hour, and the job is easy to get to and fits in your schedule, I'd say take it. |
