Sorry if this question has been posted before. I did look around and found some info on NET, but couldn't find answers to a few questions and concerns.

Here goes...My husband and I are looking to teach overseas. We are both Americans. We both have our Masters in English. We are both experienced teachers 15 years or more. I have taught in China and Hungary before--way before the kids came along. This past summer, we both taught in a summer language camp in China. We both are certified to teach AP English classes. He works for the College Board grading the SAT and works in the summer grading AP exams. I have also taught as adjunct at the college level.

We have two daughters--11 and 13 year olds. We want them in good schools and safe environments.

We are not set on China, but is a possibility since we both have taught there, and my husband loved the environment and students. Our family as a whole would love a job in Europe, but have been told how hard it is to get positions there without some international school experience.

We have applied to a couple of FREE online companies such as TeachAway. This particular company contacted us with possible leads to NET in Hong Kong--secondary teacher level.

We will have a housing allowance of $2000. We will have family insurance and paid vacations.

What type of salary should I be expecting with my experience?
What is the quality of living for a family of four?
What type of schools for English speaking students?
What type of students should I expect to teach? Last summer we taught in Nanjing at a private school--students were well behaved and knew English fairly well. However, with NET I am not so sure.

What questions should we be asking them in the interview?

Thanks for your patience if all these questions have been posted time and time again--sorry. And thanks for help.

You will both be on the top end of the pay scale which I believe is around $48,000 a month. One of you will be able to receive housing which is another $16,000 a month.

Quality of living with four is the same as living with three or five. That all depends what you are after and what you are likening you quality of life to. I am three and we are very happy.

International schools. Anywhere from $6,000 a month per head and up. At that age places may not be so difficult but I know that places generally are hard to come by at the moment in any of the schools. Local schools? I believe that they like some cantonese even in the EMI schools. i could be wrong.

Depends what level and what school you go to. you could go to band 3 CMI school and teach high school students who still have issues with the alphabet. Or you could be in a band 1 EMI school where you can let them organise their own debates about political issues in Cuba. Or you could be in a primary school.....shudder.

Questions in the interview? I think you'll just have to wait and see how the interview pans out. With your experience, I am sure you'll know at the time.
