Hmm, in a land where public beheadings are routinely carried out? I kind of doubt "good taste and decency" are responsible. Perhaps they just don't want to give the local bad boys any ideas (a motive that'll work as well as censorship always does, I'd say).

As for the Internet Censors in KSAwhat can we say of people who think the "Hell's Angels" really are agents of Satan and that the "Magic Circle" is a conspiracy of Magicians and not a bunch of amateur Illusionists.

Sorry for taking you literally - I've run into the "irony problem" myself. Got a warning once from Dave about an ironic posting I once made with reference to male chauvinist attitudes towards women. Irony-deficiency anemia - beware all imatators of Mr. Swift.

So the photographs printed in the Daily Mirror have been proven as a hoax. Irresponsible tabloid journalism, that makes me sick.

With reference to the whole British "occupation" of Northern Ireland, you're forgetting that many people from Northern Ireland consider themselves to be British, therefore talking of "occuaption is an over simplification. The Nothern Ireland question is not of relevance to this situation. I don't see many Iraqis claiming that they are actually American, and their families have been American for centuries, even more than four centuries.

Surely the attack on Iraq was to placate the American public in light of the 9-11 attacks! Osama Bin Laden had proved to be too hard an opponent to capture but Bush obviously didn't want to let his people believe America could do nothing so he chose Saddam, a far easier target and with additional benefits - most notably an INCREASED control over the oil-fields in that area. Let's not forget that after the Gulf War version 1, America and Britain 'divvied up' the oilfields among the "allied" troops, each claiming a 40% stake.
