Perry's a male Bachmann so far as I can see. I sincerely hope he's nowhere on the final ticket, on the off-chance that the Republicans actually win. |
Yes, Perry is definitely a member of the Republican nutter triad, but with fewer brain cells, I would say, than Bachmann, who does seem to be the most "intelligent" of the three. (Her woefully impaired fact-recognition abilities notwithstanding.) Of course, being smarter than the other two is a pretty low bar that does not require an abundance of functioning brain cells.
But then, it's not immediately apparent to me whether it would be better to elect a smart nutter to public office or a not-so-smart one. |

We've already had eight years in recent history of the not-so-smart kind
It was relatively disastrous.... |

I agree. I would rather see the disaster of a Backman than a Perry in the VP slot. I would prefer a more intelligent nutter as well. (P.S. What fun to play with the spellings of peoples names. Perhaps better as buckwoman?) |

Ah, but that was disaster of a different sort! Bonhomie papering over sheer stupidity, sincerity covering deceit; not to mention cowboy bullheadedness and the lack of any capacity for nuanced thought. . . well, maybe not so different after all! But despite the disaster of 8 years of a fact-free presidency, and the mess left in his wake, I don't see our last Republican president as an out and out nutcase--as I do see Bachmann. Just disastrously unqualified and in a job far beyond his abilities. |

From the relatively little I've seen and heard about Perry, he's a Bush redux in a frighteningly high percentage of areas... |

You betcha! But Perry comes with his own additional layer of craziness: Texas secession; alien invasions; BP oil spill an "act of God." Perry's view of economics includes the belief that the US recession was sent by God so that the nation will experience such hardship that people will "return to Biblical principles."
You know what they say about Texas governors: big guns, small minds. |

Bush and Perry - I'm reminded of this saying:
History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.
