| Best of luck with those issues. I've been enjoying your posts here, I'd hate to hear bad things were coming to someone with such a positive attitude. |
I'm a temperamental hothead with a bad attitude! This country has been real good to me and I have enjoyed the majority of my time here. At times it's been real easy for me to lose it, especially when confronted I was confronted with "pretzel logic". I really try to look at situations the way that they are, but it's difficult at times and I have a problem with presenting my argument without getting a bit vocal. I've gotten a lot better by trying to imagine I'm in class and they're my students, with whom I have substantially more patience. This isn't for the benefit of my ego; it's intended keep me in check.
I've been placed in situations that I never dreamed were possible and I've heard flights of fancy that rival the Grimm Brothers. Those usually come on payday, when the moneys not there! If the truth isn't convenient, some will try to spin a tale that deflects the blame away from themselves, or the school. This obviously isn't unique to the Vietnamese, but I've experienced it more here. If I had to compare the language and faux international schools, like IPS/AIS, to an industry in America, it would be the used car industry. That's the only place that I've seen so much lying, back-stabbing, stealing and all-around bad behavior. That's the only place I've seen so many megalomanics, as well. |

This is funny! I never compared them to the used car industry. I it is a perfect fit. A Viet friend has been working for AIS and they treat them like crap. The lies and crap they put up with is hard even for the Viet workers. It is a shame.
If you study Viet history and the Viet style of Mandarin management (surprisingly there are many books ) it boils down to absolute power and control. It only proves that the more things change the more they stay the same. |

I'm not going to comment on them, even through I could fire off about 2 pages in 5 minutes.
I'm surprised that someone hasn't tried to flame me yet. Surely one of you disagrees with some, if not all, of my rantings? It's OK, you can voice your disagreement or displeasure. I welcome it.
Grammar Naziis, how'm I doin'?
I already have about 30 teachers in Tennessee fired up on Facebook, because I told them to stop whining about their class sizes. What a bunch of cry babies! I'd like to see them hop on a motorbike and tool it on out to boonies! Better yet, if they had to withstand what the Vietnamese teachers do. They couldn't hang and neither could I!
Where's the guys who say there's no work in Hanoi"? Where's the guys that say 1 year visa aren't available? Both are lies, canards, ! I think those guys are either `1.) Clueless, or 2.) Afraid of competition. They're trying to sabotage the people that would rival them for their job, Maybe they'd have to take a pay cut, because of the influx of fresh blood. If that's the case, you're doomed already, because you lack confidence in both your abilities and your marketability! That's pure speculation, of course.
Anyone know where I can find a J-O-B?

Wow, I'm going to have to change my user name to Caesar Augustus, because I haven't seen this board this quite in some time! MOD EDIT
No job yet, but I do have two interviews scheduled. What a country!
Vietnam: Where everything's illegal, but anythings possible!
Vietnam: Where you can eat dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner! It's OK, everybody's doing it!
Vietnam: Where you'll hear "Shoe shine, Sir?, even when you're wearing sandals.
Vietnam: Where you'll hear "You buy sunglass?", even when you're wearing a pair. You can even hear the same voice ask you again 5 minutes after you buy a pair from them!
Vietnam: Where the cops don't speak English and really don't want to have to drag you all the way downtown for such a petty offense, so they let you blow on by!
Vietnam: Where "Rambo" and Micheal Jackson are widely loved and admired!
Vietnam: Where Ben Franklin is well known, and held in the highest regard!
Vietnam: Where you can take a a dreg of a Western society, clean them up and shove them in a room, where they're greeted with a robotic sounding "Hellooo Teeeecher!"
Vietnam: The true home of the "salt of the earth". Kind and gentle, unless they're on a motorbike, but made of Teflon and titanium. America had to find that out the hard way!
I'm done for now. |

Vietnam: Where I can email 6 CV'c, get 2 interviews scheduled and receive one job offer at 20p/h x 18 per week starting on the 30th, in a mere 3 days! The owner of the school that made the offer is desperate, but I've found that those desperate guys may be perpetually desperate, and for good reason! I'd have to relocate, but it's in the sunny south.
Good luck in Hanoi guys! 50F is about 35F on the back of a bike! |

| Good luck with the job hunt! The places I worked at don't seem to be your thing, though. |
