I'm touring Thailand for less than 2 weeks. I've heard of both airlines and/or immigration requesting proof of plans to exit the country (like a plane ticket) to be let into the country/get your tourist visa. I plan to fly into Bangkok and then ride trains down through Malaysia/Singpore, flying back to Korea (where I live) from there. Can I show my Singapore-Korea ticket to the border/visa issuing people in Thailand and explain my plans for train rides as sufficient evidence for plans to exit the country? What have others done for land travel plans like this? |

This is not advice, but I flew into Bangkok almost a year ago with only a one way ticket and had absolutely no problems. |

If you have a ticket from Singapore back to Korea then immigration in Thailand won't bother you.
You may have issues with the airline at boarding time (in Korea) but if they see a ticket returning you back to Korea within your ARC period there should be no problem.

Most airlines make you sign a waiver that you understand that you are supposed to have a return ticket and that's all. The only airline that will make you buy a return ticket before you board is Korean Air, quite possibly Asiana too because it's........... well.......Korean. I have never in over 10 years ever had a problem with Thai immigration over a return ticket. The worst that would happen to you is they would make you show them a Bank account with sufficient funds for them. that's all. It's not likely especially if you're dressed well. |
