Hello! I have been scouring the internet for a price list of CELTAs around the world, and I cannot find one. Maybe there is one somewhere, and if you know about it, please pass on the link! If not, could someone please give me suggestions about which countries to look at. I suppose I could get it in the US, but I believe the price tag is much lower in other countries. Also, I have never lived in another country, and I see this as a way to get my feet wet. Thanks ahead of time, and I will probably have more questions for you later!

I just took, for example, the course in Almaty and compared it with the one in NYC the one in Almaty is 2000 US dollars whereas the one in NYC is around 2500. I guess you would also have to pay for housing on top of that. Think of somewhere cheap and type it in.

This is what I have been doing. I was just looking for suggestions to help with the search. Right now I have Buenos Aires at 1,441; Mexico at 1,795; and Indonesia at 1,700; but thanks for your help! Anyone else?

Consider taking the course in some country where you want to teach anyway. Then, it's a good bridge into country/culture and you are not paying for flights/housing somewhere you don't plan to say.

I have mainly been looking into Middle Eastern countries, but I have recently been in negotiations with a school in China and a couple recruiters in S. Korea. I have a BA in English Literature and a MA in English.

But I am really open to any country as long as I can pay off my student loans, live in a decent middle-class dwelling, and have livable internet!

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but since we're on the topic of money and education, I am looking for a cheap medical school. I eventually want to be a brain surgeon. But money is No. 1 right now, and I need something cheap. Does anyone know of a medical school with absolutely rock-bottom prices?

It's common Czech signage for 'offleash.'

There is one for 'onleash 'also. I haven't got it handy, but I'll find it somewhere....

JBrown, teaching jobs in the Mid East generally require a CELTA or equivalent TEFL cert + a couple of years' experience. For your situation, your best prospects for starting your TEFL career will be in Asia. Once you get some experience under your belt, then definitely apply for positions in the ME.
