|
|
I am finishing my MA TESOL within the year. I want to teach in Qatar because I was interested in the high salaries that they offer. I am in serious need to help out my family. I only have six months of tutoring experience. And this was in philosophy. Will my Masters and my limited experience be enough to secure me a job there? |

Probably not - there are many with the quals and extensive experience also seeking those high paid jobs. But it doesn't hurt to apply - long shots do come in occasionally |

Qatar University Foundation has been known to hire students right out of grad school. They even bragged about this at a TESOL convention so give it a try. Also some of the private schools do this.
ELS is another option. |

I heard this too, but I wonder if QU will be hiring if they are now firing because the program is shrinking. We will see at the next TESOL convention, no doubt. |

Do some volunteer teaching, man. You need to get some experience behind you. Like Lollared said, QU foundation has hired teachers right out of grad school with no experience but not a place to look now as they are just about to go bust! |

Going bust is not the best description. (sounds odd as that usually refers to money... and Qatar is nothing if not rich. ) They will still have Science and Medicine (assuming that have a medical branch) in English. Any others in English? But there will certainly be a downsizing.
