I echo what Matt said. I find I work far more hours at an International school than when I was at an ESL school.

However I must say I find it more rewarding working at an International school than I ever did at an ESL school. This is partly due to being able to get involved in school life more such as setting up clubs (all adventurous activity clubs) which I enjoy. I also teach my specialism of science now after doing my PGCE which I find more interesting than teaching English.

I do have to agree with fladude said about the politics of an International school (same applies for schools back home). There are some very precious teachers but I also came across some of them in ESL schools. One good thing is International schools generally tend to avoid some of the nuttier teachers (alcoholics, mental issues and sexpats) I came across in lower level ESL schools as they generally don't have the qualifications to teach in an International school.
