Our masters have told us about the Falklands while studiously ignoring another moral dilemma

Disgraceful treatment of thoe people by our government. However, I completely fail to see the relationship between one case and another. Perhaps you could explain? BTW, congratulations to the people of the Falklands.

One rule for the Falklands. Another rule for Diego Garcia.

THAT, my dear Sheikh, is my point.

It's about time we gave the Falkland Islanders real self determination which is independence from the UK.

So youre saying that because we treated the people of the Chagos Islands so badly, we must also betray the Falklanders. Surely we should learn from our mistakes and do it right next time.

Im still a wee bit confused. Which rules are you referring to? And what do you think we should do about the Falklands? Abandon them to the Argentinians?

So? Who cares what they want?

You do realise the longer they stay British the more chance the Argentinians have got of taking them off us.

If they want to continue living in their little bubble then eventual independence is the only way they are going to be left in peace. About time they became a part of South America and it is about time we let go of our colonial past. It is the 21st century.

I think, and I could be wrong here, is that Scot thinks that it is a bit rich to claim that the islanders' democratic rights are being protected, when democratic rights of islanders have never been high in importance on the British piggies' agenda...
