I have to give kudos to my school. The fao just had a meeting last night to give us a prep class on how to successfully cheat on the exam. The school is concerned that the teachers will lose their jobs if we don't pass the exam.

So now all the fts in my school are full of crib notes and what we think are the actually answers to the exam.

So my school is ready!

Do you think there will be a posting in China Daily or maybe even a show on cctv9 that ranks what schools teachers did best?

This is a new test which the Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs in Beijing has dreamed up as part of the long expected post Olympics crackdown. It is currently being trialled by certain universities and recruiters. It is supposed to be part of the vetting process for applicants for 1st jobs in China. However some schools have got hold of copies and are also asking experienced teachers to take it.

It is a complete farce dreamed up by an 11year old with a first certificate in psychology. I was asked about it by a friend a while ago after he had been told by his university that he had to take it. The official website is vague and the English translation appalling. So to figure out more I entered false details about myself and took it online. After about 3 questions I couldn't stop laughing and just filled in the multiple choice parts at random. Then I just took the micky out of the writing part using as many long jargon words as I could think of not to waste my time. Guess what? I passed!

There are multiple versions selected by the computer at random for each applicant. So anytime you are bored and the bar is shut you could have an amusing evening dreaming up silly names to apply under and answers to really wind them up.

The site that you referred us to is completely misleading. So I did a DNS look-up on and some backdoor pings and the

the site belongs to a recruiter called www.chinajobs.com. JUST ANOTHER FRIG*ING recruiter who had the "bright" idea to come up with a test like to screen applicants.

Maybe it is being used in some places and maybe it is not being used in anothers -- but this is China and things are far from standard, up-to-and-including the much discussed FEC.

Let's not set off any kind of minor panics on this board...most of us had to weather the trials and tribulations of the Olymp*cs administrative regulations, so this is just one more item, still nascent, still not officially whatever and in the hands of a recruiter.

And no, Shan-Shan, read what it says. I took the online test. It is to be "used by future employers who check our database for suitable candidates".

The fact that this was "linked" off the SAFEA site means nothing. I would encourage everyone to go read the SAFEA site and see all the things that are linked off of it.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. The link in fact does lead to the "official" SAFEA foreign teacher multiple choice test, for what it's worth.

Last week I went through it. There was no test. It was merely a series of screens which asked for personal information.

So, for the experts who are in the know, know this: there is no test there.
