You're in Korea? ok, I just assumed that you were in Spain, because it says so in your the location part of your profile. I speak some Spanish, am EU and have already spent a year in Spain but never South America...maybe I should try out South America for the experience...I must admit I have been lurking for a long time in the South American forums...guess why I prefer Spain, is it's proximity to the UK (home) and other European destinations....but as they say, life's too short and it's always best to spread your wings

Well, you've certainly given me food for thought bejarano- thanks!

Qatar is good for $$ and the travel opportunities from here especially Asia/Africa and the rest of the Mid East. But I do miss things like history, culture, landscape, variety of things to do....guess it's better for those with families etc but for single young ppl like myself it can be a tad difficult- it keeps my bank balance happy ....but at the same time there's more to life than $$...is the Mid East your next possible destination?

I think you'll find that Doha will be VERY different from Buenos Aires

Is there plenty of work going around? YES if you have an MA but not much if you don't...places like QP, Bell, BC ...all recruit ppl without MA's but salaries/other benefits will be lower than other universities and college- but hey at least it's all tax free there are also many opportunities to teach 1 to 1 if you ever wanted to supplement your income. I guess a year or so would be good for the experience etc but don't expect it to have the passion and energy that Latin countries have

I worked for many years in the centre and north of Spain, where immigration isn't, perhaps, such a big issue. Many of my Spanish students ruefully admitted that Spaniards in general are a racist lot. In my experience the group which received most odium were the Gypsies (as in many European countries), closely followed by anybody who had arrived in the latest flood of immigration from Eastern Europe. Oh, and I forgot the 'moros', of course - generally Moroccan or Algerian. These groups were not only hated but also feared, and therefore left well alone. Sub-Saharan Africans, Asians and Latin Americans always seemed to be treated relatively well in comparison. Perhaps things are changing.

....yes, hard to say what will happen. ive been looking around the Spanish newspapers and don't see much except about the protests. like i said before, i read the Spanish courts are 'reorganizing' and won't be up to 'full speed' until Jan / Feb.

if i was his lawyer i really see only 3 defense routes: 1) security camera, can you put someone in jail from a camera?? 2) drunk 3) mentally unstable / insanity.

it's one thing if you get in a boyfriend / girlfriend fight, etc. but, to kickbox someone blind-sided still seems to me quite a bit worse.
