Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has had a similar experience, I was interviewed at TESOL Arabia for a job at PSU and later offered a job which I accepted by sending their offer back signed.
This was last week but since then I haven't heard anything back. Not even an email to confirm they received my acceptance. Is this normal? |

So, so, so, so, so, so, so normal. Never take it personal - "they" (all gov't staff workers at gov't universities) are just lazy when compared to other counties.
I went from a place like Japan where the payroll staff would stay up all night if there was a problem in order to make sure everyone got paid at the same time/day to a place where the door to HR/Payroll could be locked at 10am, 1pm, 3pm, etc... because staff are either sleeping at their desks, drinking tea, or surfing the Internet and they don't want you to disturb them, so they lock the door to the "Teachers Services" office.
I would try and find out if they have sent a visa block number (on your behalf) to the KSA embassy in your country. Try calling the embassy (good luck with that!). This way, you will know if the offer is official. In addition, if you do have a visa block number assigned to you, you can start the paperwork in order to get your visa. Hang in there! It's only going to get worse, much worse. I would say that it is always darkest before the dawn, but it's always "dark" here. |

ditto on what lcanupp1964 suggests... if you have the block number, you could ask one of the staff gov't univ workers if there is someone at the SACM who will be handling your paperwork. He/she might not be the one of the administrators listed on the SACM's authentication of docs app for contacts..yea, its hard to get people on the phone.. all of the numbers listed on the SACM authentication of docs app went to voicemail when i tried to call... |

Give it some time. Keep in mind that this is peak recruiting/hiring season for them and they're barely back a week after interviewing at TESOL Arabia. It's very likely they're processing you along with many others. |

Yes they are...this time last year I went Egypt...when you have your Iqama, you just need an exit/re-entry visa to go on holiday. Hopefully an employer like PSU should provide a multiple exit visa which is valid for 6 months. |

Where were you when you sent them back your signed acceptance paper?
If you were back home (Europe) and you sent your acceptance by MAIL, it's most probable PSU has not received your missive yet....it's still in the mail. After all, you said you mailed the item only last week. Even in Europe a letter sent from one European country to another can easily take 2, 3 weeks to arrive.
It's conceivable that they will never get it. Saudi mail is unreliable at best. I hope you sent your document "registered" or some way to track it down if necessary. I hope you're making copies of ALL documentation, no matter how trivial they may seem to you, in a PSU folder of some kind.
A word of advise - any documentation you must send to KSA should really be sent via DHL, FEDEX or other well known delivery service. It'll cost a pretty penny but you'll have assurances that your documents will arrive and you can track the package as it goes from location to locaton along with the signature of the final recipient.. |

I wonder if they are also interviewing at TESOL in the US. That is this week.

six months from date of first exit that is... and that exit date MUST be within 90 days of the visa being issued or you face a fine and some bureaucratic hassle. |

Same thing happened with me last year, and then they told me 3 months later that the job was no longer available.
Same thing happening again- it's been 11 days. I have another offer in a better place. What happens if I sign another contract? |

It seems to be sorted out now. They've emailed me a contract and it's been signed by me and the rector. However I've read they can still change their mind so keeping my fingers crossed.
They seem to be quite professional so here's hoping I fly out in August |
