Hey Guys,

I was just wondering, the Z visa that you get for being an ESL teacher, is it usually a multi or single entry visa? Was just wondering for travel purposes during vacation etc..

The Z-visa is single entry. Residence permit is infinite entries as far as I know.

Yeah, just get a single entry. It's cheaper (for your employer), I think?

You'll convert the Z Visa to a residency permit well within your first month anyway, so the multiple entry Z Visa is a bit pointless, unless you're planning to travel outside China within your first month here.

Once you have the RP, you're free to go where you want.

The government no longer issues multiple entry Z visas.

There are many threads on this topic.

As an English teacher you need to understand the basic English definitions of a visa and a resident permit as it pertains to China.

And, it is common sense really.

A visa only allows you to physically enter the country.

A resident permit, as its name implies as well, is what allows you to live and or exit and re-enter the country.

It's unfortunate really.
