When do universities (like Princess Noura University) hire (non-direct) through out the year? When do the semesters start throughout the year? |

Contracting companies tend to place ads year round, in general.
There's a current posting for PNU:
"Female EFL Teachers required for Princess Noura University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia"

It takes ages to get over here so be prepared.. Two to three months is normal for the visa paperwork, and longer if you sign the contract early in the year. |

Does anyone have recent experience getting a visa for a non-direct hire position at PNU? What agency does the hiring for them? My friend, currently working there, informed me that her visa only took a week and she went through InAdvance. Do they still recruit for PNU? If so when? |

That recruiter likely has a website --- email them.
If your friend received a visa about a week after accepting the offer, she got a business visit visa and not a proper employment visa. |

From the time she applied for the job to getting her visa, it was a month she says. If anyone has recent experience at PNU, I would love to pick your brain! I'd really appreciate it! |

Why not ask your friend since you state she currently teaches at PNU. |

I want to get a different perspective on this situation. I get the feeling she has a unique experience because she applied close to the start of the semester so they probably expedited her visa! |

Business visit visas are issued quickly but are not valid for bona fide employment. The process for a proper work/employment visa, however, entails a criminal background check, degree/TEFL cert authentication, lab tests and a physical. It can take two or more months from the time the offer is accepted to the time the employment visa is approved --- all depending on the employer, time of year, and the prospective employee's nationality (and ability to follow instructions). In other words, there's no one-size-fits-all situation when it comes to visa processing.
You need to ask your friend what type of visa she received --- whether she has a business visit visa or if she entered KSA on an employment visa and now has a resident ID card (muqeem/iqama). But again, your situation could vary; you won't know unless you apply for a position. |

I assume she received an employment visa since she's been there about 10 months. She's been able to leave the country to go on trips to Thailand, Bahrain, and Dubai.
I understand that everyone will have a unique application experience. I just wanna hear what that unique experience could be like... |

"Unique" is not the word most would use to describe the experience of getting a visa for KSA --- routine, time-consuming, and for some, maddening is more like it. By the way, your friend could have a business visit visa despite being in KSA for 10 months via whatever contracting company she works for. (There's more than one company staffing teachers at PNU, which is why I said there's no one-size-fits-all visa scenario.)
It seems you have some specific, preconceived idea and expectation about visas and the process. I suggest you take a look at: |

Friend got back to me! She received a work visa and has an iqama. Props to InAdvance recruiting agency for making that happen! |

checked out a couple of these links and some don't apply to me but the first one sure gives me an idea of what can happen. Does amyhody know if InAdvance still recruits for them?? My friend applied last July and was in Saudi in August. I'm assuming time of year affects application process! |
