Hey All,

Laughing hehehe.

Exactly, NOBODY has.

Thats impossible, all the EFF's DOS offices are vacant. The DOS position is only for show. Don't you know they only hire Senior Teachers?

Nobody including EG is willing to admit they have worked for EF as the DOS.

All the DOSes come out of the closet, reveal yourselves.

Hasn't EG repeatedly stated he worked in management, as a DOS, at EF?

Are you saying that aint so?

C'mon EG, 'fess up.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Read the OP's lines above KES, before you begin your "teasing" on!
Have you worked as an EF Director of Studies before KES? Smile
Now, it's time to "fess up" what your motives coming on here are Laughing

Mitch, the few EF DOSs in China that still sit in that office there are either too busy to come out here or affraid. The EF Head Office in Shaghai has "an eye" out here on forums. Wink Although I do expect a couple of those regular forum users that were once DOSs to come out here. They started a rather interesting "EF recruiting" on their own.
By the way, I've sent a pm to the OP, even though I still am waiting for a reply. It's been just a couple of days I guess, so I'll wait.

Peace to all friends, enemies
and
cheers and beers to the hard working FTs in China Very Happy

I applied and was contacted by EF in London by a woman named Nadia for a DoS position in China. Very odd it seemed, they keep calling me for weeks and then their phone lines were disconnected, their internet site went down and I never heard anything again. Emails have never been replied to, no contact has been re-established in over a month. I really wasn't that interested in working with them because I like my current McEnglish but I though it would good see what color the grass is on the other side of the fence. I am heading to Beijing in a little over a months time anyway, so no harm no foul, but really very strange.

I went through the preliminary interviews, paperwork etc for the dos position in march, was accepted , got turned over to one post which was then reallocated to somebody already working in-company and since then .......BUBKISS. I rather feel that they dont, in fact have the vacancies advertised. Of course if they're actually offering you a job......

EG, the vast majority of FTs in China don't visit these forums. Nothing is proven by who is, or is not, on Dave's. The fact of the matter is that while this place can be a good source of information, it isn't as important as some seem to think.

I know several people who used to work as DOSses at EF, and when I worked there there was a DOS. These elusive creatures do, in fact, exist. Wink

English, I am sure your motives are as sinister as any ones on this board...you have constantly fed misinformations about EF in the form of blanket statements about the operations without once illustrating what happen to you to make you go after this franchise with such pious delight..

How about you fess up and reveal what your beef with EF is and why your were fired in the first place...

The DOSs I have know come from the rank and file..according to HR..these positions are promoted from within..

Guys, the EF English First HR gets paid for supplying Directors of Studies to the individual EF centers. In China, the Shanghai's EF Head Office's HR gets 5,000 RMB everytime.
Once, the Shanghai's HR recruited a DOS for one EF center in China. The center's Center Manager decided to fire that DOS a couple of months later then. When I met that Center Manager at the EF conference in March 2004 in Shanghai, he was so loud about it. He recounted the story how he fired his DOS to quite a few DOSs and CMs there. That CM was not only unprofessional but also an absolute nutcase. Well, the EF Head Office voted him for THE EF CENTER MANAGER OF THE YEAR (what a medal of honour) at that conference there. Smile
Regarding that recruiting guys, EF centers want to do it all on their own. That way they not only save the money, but also get what/who they want. Mind you, they have their own ideas, "standards", requirements, and sometimes even contracts Wink

Now back to this one
Quote:
you have constantly fed misinformations about EF in the form of blanket statements
It's time for you to come out from under that thick "blanket" you are under. What kinda EF info have you "FED" us with??? You sound like you've never worked for one freaking EF center, not even that "part-time" that you've claimed before.
So, give us some of your first hand EF info here, will ya? Wink
By the way, I have an EF trivia question for ya. EF has taught past continuous tense vs simple past tense in one of their levels. Now, is it Keystage one level or Keystage two level, CJ? If you answer this one, I'll believe your "part-time" EF experience Smile ...don't be shy to burn your search engines Laughing ...hence pm Laughing (you've got many friends)

No_exit, I hear ya.

However, I don't hear or read from the OP. I've pmed her/him right after this thread started. Confused Confused Confused

Peace to allll

they had a good opinion of him and a poor one of you..how is that in your consideration of EF..anything they do is subject to suspicion or shady dealings but when it comes to your situation, they were unfair. Just tell the story...and maybe the readers will understand your misdealings with EF...

I am the new center manager for EF XMH in shenzhen. And guess what I like to job.
The job is difficult and sometimes long hours. I have to deal with whinging parents, students and teachers as well as unskilled staff and I LOVE IT.
Why. Because I have rad so much stories about how bad EF is and some of them are right. I thought EF was shit too but guess what some are and some are not.
Many teachers complain about EF and apparently even my center. I have a chance to make a difference. I can do my best to try to improve things instead of just whinging about them. I took this challenge and guess what. In 6 months my center will be the best EF in Shenzhen and maybe in China. Why becayse I treat my teachers fair and tell the truth. argue and fight with them but also support them 100%.
I have total authority in my Center. My GM is Sophia and there was some comments about her on this site. I havent read them yet but I'll find them. I like her. she is a dragon but I am a bigger dragon.
doing this job is difficult but its about strength of character. If you have a strong character and are prepared to put in the hard yards then this is a great job. If you cant then dont do it.
anyone who reads this is more then welcome to come to my center and talk with me about it but dont write rubbish on the net. you got something to say about MY center. Great. Bring your ass here and say it to my face.
If you cant then your bad comments just do nothing except give me some entertaining reading and give some Chinese people more reason to think that all foreigners do is come here and complain.
I AM PROUD TO BE THE DOS/CENTER MANAGER FOR EF XIANG MI HU.
IF ANYONE WANTS TO COME AND SEE ME I WELCOME YOU. MY PHONE IS 1371400172 AND MY CENTER PHONE NUMBER IS 83536200.
MY NAME IS DAVID MURRAY. I AM FROM NZ. I DONT HIDE UNDER ALIASES OR NET NAMES AND I AM NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK. THE DARK IS AFRAID OF ME.

THANK YOU

The guy who laid out this post, if sincere, is a welcome alternative to the vaguely worded attacks by disgruntled employees armed with innuendos and half truths..

obviously a whole lot more "gray matter" than English Gibson...look this guy is just giving an alternative opinion and should be considered and not attacked with regards to his metal intellect..his post was clear and concise and backed up with his own transparency..few posters are courageous enough to provide information as to their identities..why challenge his intelligence and then make a reference to a new poster known for a whirlwind amount of problems and juvenile retorts.....although I would have been more careful as to alluding to be the baddest DOS on the block..the Chinese can and do make mincemeat out of the toughest..remember the Chinese will let you make all the boast that you want..and then when you fall..they pounce on you like beggars on a bottle of baiju..

Wow Checkmate or shall I call you David. You've give us quite a story above.
Quote:
MY NAME IS DAVID MURRAY. I AM FROM NZ. I DONT HIDE UNDER ALIASES OR NET NAMES AND I AM NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK. THE DARK IS AFRAID OF ME.
David, welcome to China and to EF English First franchise. It's nice to see that some aren't affraid of "the dark".
Quote:

From what I am reading from you, I believe that you'll turn it all around there.
Quote:
I AM PROUD TO BE THE DOS/CENTER MANAGER FOR EF XIANG MI HU.
Now, this is something that I do not understand, David. You are saying that you are from NZ, so that means you are not Chinese (and your name proves it too). EF Center Managers are Chinese and Directors of Studies are foreigners. Further more, the EF English First has its STRUCTURE and that says that Center Manager is one person and Director of Studies is another one. Well, if the things are the way you've said, then I really believe that you are not only going to become THE BEST EF CENTER IN SHENZHEN/CHINA, BUT ALSO THE MOST "UNIQUE" ONE TOO.

David, would you be so kind to explain to us how a kiwi becomes a Center Manager and a Director of Studies at the same time? Center Managers at EFs aren't to interfere in the Director of Studies affairs, however they do and do it so much that it gets really frustrating. Well, it looks like your frustration is over right there. Wink
Also, would you mind telling us how you deal with the academic affairs in your center and what your product is like?
By the way, what books do you teach? Do you yourself teach as well?

Now, back to you CJ

No, you have not really...you haven't answered my academic question about EF, so you know sh*t about their books and teaching "EF part-timer" or really???
I have regard for the honest ones and you are clearly full of it!!! Wink Your "fanatic" posts have little or nothing to do either with the original topic of the OP (WHERE IS THE OP?) or the EF English First.

Peace to allll

some would call it stupid - especially when mixed up in language (yes I know he's playing) that has a distinct tone of hidden violence - maybe he confuses EF with an elite military brigade such as the SAS Laughing
