I am on Kokumin Kenko Hoken now but am about to qualify for Shakai Hoken . I have a wife who earns 10,000 a month and a newborn child.
I am confused. Should I take it?? |

What do you mean when you say you are "about to qualify" for shakai hoken? Are you going to change jobs (or job situations)?
Your wife earns 10,000 what -- US dollars, Japanese yen, British pounds? What is her current insurance status? |

If you are considered a full-time employee, your employer must enroll you in Employee Health Insurance through Shakai Hoken. It should be automatic and you shouldn't have a choice in the matter. If your current contract is written so that you're actually considered part-time, but your employer is asking you to approve a change in your contract that will allow you to attain full-time status, then you actually have a dilemma. Your payment through Shakai Hoken will probably be around ¥30000 per month.
