|
|
Hello, I am Eric.
I am currently teaching in Shandong, China, and will begin teaching at a new school in Lijiang this September.
To get started with the new school in Lijiang, they need me to make a visa run to Hong Kong for a new business visa (a work visa will be issued after 3 months of teaching).
When I was in America and preparing my visa for China, I was a long way from the nearest Embassy so I used a Visa Agency via snail-mail. I sent them my inivitation letter and other required information (I assume I will need the same for applying in Hong Kong).
QUESTION: Is it possible to use a Visa Agency via the mail rather than actually making the trip to Hong Kong? Has anyone done this? If it is possible, would it be a good/bad idea to send all my information and passport to Hong Kong this way?
Thank you,
Eric
P.S. Whats the deal with getting F Visas in Hong Kong? Some people I see say they are not valid in the Mainland, others say they are... |

No agency is accredited with the authorities to do this kind of job; if you are so silly as to pay one of them to get you a visa from HK, you might come to regret it!
This would be the first case in the world where a visa for one country was obtained in the territory of another jurisdiction without the passport bearer actually showing up in that other place. |

| Well, people use agencies onces they are in Hong Kong, yes? What the difference between mailing them my necessary information and handing it to them myself? Or is it simply a matter of a passport needing to be stamped as I enter the country? |

My guess is you just answered your question. They seem to place a huge emphasis on YOU leaving the country. Just one more way to boost tourism dollars of course. |
