I'll be going to Bangkok soon to start a new job and would like to know where the best areas are to find a decent apartment. I'm looking to spend around 10,000 - 15,000B, but can spend a little more. Any advice would be appreciated. |

The best place to live in Bangkok is close to your new job. The less time you spend sitting in traffic, the better. 10-15K should get you a very nice place in most of BKK. |

I agree with laconic. Even if you don't mind springing for taxis all the time (I don't mind) - it is almost always faster to to use the Skytrain or subway. Traffic in certain parts of Bangkok makes it such a hassle to get around that if you don't live in the right area - you just don't go out.
Last time I lived in BKK - I had a three-minute walk to work - but the location was so lousy that it was a real hassle to get out and meet friends or really do anything that wasn't a 20 minute walk from the apartment. Even the taxi ride to TESCO took longer than walking it. . .
