Let me say from the word go that I am not looking for a teaching job...at least not yet. I was wondering if anyone, especially some of the teachers in Malaysia (or Thailand) know if it is possible to find other work, preferably non-skilled. What I had in mind was working at a resort or hotel, for example. Not that I want to spend much time at such places, but it's all I can think of.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Getting a position probably wouldn't be hard, but breaking through the local payscale may not be so easy.

Thanks for the quick response.

I should also have stated that I plan on living quite frugally and don't have much of a desire to pack away a lot of savings, either.

I'm looking to do a lot of traveling, so would prefer someplace with decent access to other places. (I'm thinking Phuket, KL).

Any idea where to start looking? I have no contacts, so all I've done so far is cold-called (emailed) some places and said "Hey, I'm looking for work."

I'm not sure how helpful this site will be, but the actual Star newpaper has loads of jobs.

I got a good deal on my apartment from the newspaper below.

Penang and Langkawi both have international airports and are more likely to have what you're looking for than KL.

I'd like to add that I just signed up for Celebrity Fitness and the manager and an aerobics instructor are both Western dudes.

Thanks for the replies - you've been really helpful. I'm gonna start looking and maybe I'll get lucky. Plan B is to show up and try from there....
