Is a tourist or visitor's visa currently required to enter Hong Kong for short stays (1 -2 weeks)? My passport is U.S. if that matters one way or the other.

Well, the China eslcafe forum has a "job-related" forum and an "off-topic" forum. But I don't see that the HK forum has that distinction.

And in fact, it is work-related, because I will be applying for a Taiwan residency visa (for work) from either Hong Kong or Macau.
