I heard there was. Can anyone confirm this? Someone told me that they won't hire English teachers over the age of 30!!
Thanks.

Absolute rubbish. Some schools like the fresh energetic teachers and some like a calmer more mature type. The two types of schools attract different types of students accordingly.[/url] |

You might be thinking of JET program which has an age cutoff at 35.
But that's only one of many options for going to Japan. |

1. Please look more carefully at this site. On the same page you will see this very thread dealing with age. http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=57533
2. JET's upper cutoff is 40, not 35. Your information is outdated. And, even 40 is somewhat flexible in some situations.
3. Doing a search really helps here. |

I'm 36. I was hired through JET when I was 35. I'll likely stay on until I'm 38. Even though 40 is the current "age limit" I think they're willing to be flexible. |
