A decade or so ago I spent quite a few years in Seki. Is anyone there now and what do you think of it. I"d be interested to know how the place has changed |

I'm not sure when it opened, but there's an Aeon/Jusco there now with an 8-theatre cinema, showing movies in English, across the street. It has virtually made the Honmachi area a ghost town. Another big change was the closing of the passenger rail service. The closest one is a 40-minute drive to Meitetsu or JR in Gifu city. A highway has been built, conveniently connecting Seki to other prefectures. The geographical size of Seki has increased quite a bit after merging with many neighbouring communities. Those are the big changes I can think of at the moment. |

No train service! Zoinks! That would have done me in. It was a real lifeline to Gifu and Nagoya. English movie theatre. Bonus. And the place really needed a decent department store. Honmachi was dying a slow death even then.
Thanks for the update. Did you work there? |
