|

OK, I know that it is difficult to pay student loans in the US on a teacher's salary in Mexico but... If you had to pay them, how would you go about making payments? The loans are Federal Direct Student Loans and I have two of them (which means i'll be sending home $100 dollars a month). They have an online payment option but can you send money from a mexican bank account? If not, is there a cheap way to send money home from Mexico? Paypal had crossed my mind but i'm not sure of any fees apply to international transactions, as well as how I would get money uploaded onto paypal. Any info would be helpful and if you advise against any of my ideas let me know. |

I have a $50 a month payment, unfortunately all I can do is dump a bunch of money in my US account when my son comes to visit and bring back some travelors checks to the States. Then every month the payment comes out of that account.
In an emergency, I find you can send travellers checks via Fed EX (but put them in an envelope and tell them they are "documents" or they get p!ssy) for about 300 pesos. much better than the 6% they charge for wiring. |
