Currently starting third year in China,want to move to Spain.Have MA,TEFL and 30 years experience.What are my chances,I am 56 and female ,British. |

This isn't Asia where looks are everything and you have to act like a monkey in class. The reputable ones here probably won't discriminate based on age. The ones that do probably aren't worth working at in the first place. |

I've only come across one academy in Valencia that has specified age requirements for their position (25-40 years old only).
Not sure if I should consider working at a place that wants to interview me tomorrow and starts this coming Monday. A little weird to make a decision on an employee so quickly. |

I'd say at 50+ you'll find it harder to find work than a 25-year-old. Just a sort of passive age discrimination, if you like, as that's not the average profile of a new English teacher your average DoS in Spain is expected, used to seeing, or wants.
On the other hand, any organization doing a lot of company work and or Business English might be more interested in you, especially if you have relevant experience. |
