Hi all!

I was wondering if a CELTA is the universal requirement to teach in Turkey or if employers would accept another TEFL equivalent... or even an on-line TEFL course...

I want to teach in Turkey, but I'm not sure which course to pursue...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!!

Regards,
Tom

The crucial element any sensible employer will look for is the observed teaching practice. Without it the certificate is worth much much less.

CELTA is not essential to get a job, but there are loads of teachers around who regret not having done it at all or sooner.

More qualifications are always of value in the long run.

No, a CELTA isn't necessary but it might help you get a job and also provide you with more mobility if you want to teach elsewhere after...

Are employers more likely to take you without a CELTA if you express desire to attain a CELTA in the near future? Or is that about as useless as not having it in the first place?

Check. The stated desire to take a course obviously won't improve your teaching in advance of the course.

Yea, that's what I thought, was hoping the intent would possibly give a little wiggle room. Oh well.
