English or Korean. Would horror movies be too much? How about a good comedy. I'm not really looking at bambi stuff thanks.

"Forrest Gump" is a good movie for students. It has comedy, drama, action, etc.

The movie is story telling about his own life and speaks extremely slow so easy to follow.

How about an old John Waters movie like "Pink Flamingos"?
Or maybe "Pulp Fiction" or "Reservoir Dogs"? Maybe "From Dusk Till Dawn"?

The original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" kept my kids for years. Good music, and most haven't seen it.
I once showed Jerry Springer's Zingers and got approval. Highly inappropriate, though. Preview is advisable.

The Polar Express (All ages)

The Chronicles of Narnia (All ages)

Fun with Dick and Jane (Older kids, one beroom scene needs to be skipped; not racy, but very suggestive)

Monsters, Inc. (All ages)

Napoleon Dynamite (Older kids)

Any IMAX film (nature, space, etc..., all ages)

The Incredibles (younger kids)

Jimmy Neutron (kid's catnip)

Pee Wee's Big Adventure (All ages)

Millions (Older kids)

Many others, but that's what I keep on my USB hard drive.

Forest Gump was good, but one girl kept screaming during the Vietnam scenes. Come on you're Koreans! I know you all love to watch pride and have 19 rated movies on at 2 in the afternoon.

I do get a lot of requests for horror like Saw3 and Chucky. That's not going to happen. But I might let them watch trailers to these movies. 2 mins of gasping and screaming is ok.

Shrek is good for all ages. Just make sure there isn't a kid that looks like Shrek in your class. He might regret turning up that day.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is also good for this time of year. Plenty of songs and Christmas imagery, you can also review Halloween.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(Old version with Gene Wilder) is pretty fun, they'll go wild with the umper loompers for weeks.

I might show to older kids...high school but there is some nudity, intimation of sex . Talk of Aids and drugs. Some schools might frown on that.

Middle School

Princess Bride
Stand by Me (especially first years)
Whale Rider (the girls love it)
Ace Ventura 1 & 2 (just because it is so damn stupid) Perfect for teen boys. Couple of questionable scenes but okay.
shrek 1 and 2 (first years)
Ghost busters 1 and 2 (most of the kids haven't seen so they think it "quaint" and the jokes are stupid enough for teens
Predator vs. Alien especially for third year boys love the action

Napolean Dynamite doesn't translate well. The jokes are very N.A. sort of like the simpsons sometimes.

Harry Potter...they would watch these a 1,000 times.

X-Men 1,2 & 3... lots of discussion about being different.

Ice Age, Shark Tales, Madasgar and that ilk for the first years. 2nd years like to pretend they are too cool.

Blade 3 is popular with 3rd years. To much swearing for anyone else.

Narnia (I hate it but the kids love it)

8 Legged Freaks...ALL AGES. The best movie for middle school kids. There is a hit of romance but nothing serious. The violence is cartoon like and the adults seem somewhat dim and the kid basically saves the day. I have shown it every year to first years and the second and third years sometimes want to see it again.

I-robot -- 2nd and 3rd years. Good discussion material

Lemony Snickets - best to use the book along with it.

Big -- Old but it is timeless as far as the jokes and plot. Can lead to some great discussions.

I wish humor like Ren and Stimpy and Bevis and Butt head would transfer but they don't.

I do have one student that is hooked on South Park. Loves to sing the Uncle F song. In the hall he can't sing in my class room. I wish I could show South Park.

Boy movies are easy finding movies that girls and boys will like together is harder. Whale rider works well and so does Princess Bride.

AMERICAN PIE ABSOLUTELY NOT. DRINKING, SEX AND NAKED GIRLS...! MUCH AS THEY WOULD LOVE IT NO WAY.

Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride.

Those are some I have used.

Some of you people are showing a ton of movies! Shocked

Two comedies that were well received by students were White Chicks and The Hot Chick. Remember that they love physical comedy.
