This is the first time that I have been unable to find a taxi in Korea when I needed one, and I'm assuming it's due to the snow. All the usually popular taxi stands are vacant.

This poses a major inconvenience... Will it be like this every time it snows in Korea?

I suppose a better question is: Are there 24-hour taxi services that one can call?

no kidding.

had a party tonight, and no one could get a taxi afterward -- no cabs would stop. even offering double the rate proved fruitless.

ROBT.

If you're going out at a peak time eg sat. or Fri. nite, or sunday evening....start looking for a taxi about an hour beforehand, or you have no chance.

Oh yes,it's very common for taxis to NOT want to pick up people when it snows. I went out last night, and by 1AM, it was snowing. At 3AM , it was so hard to get a taxi and when I did, I got charged almost 20,000 won to go from Shinsa to Chongno-3-ga...in a standard silver taxi!!!!!!!!!

Waited close to half an hour for a taxi today at a taxi stand on a military base where there are always supposed to be taxis waiting. One dropped a bunch of people off in the same location, but refused to pick anyone else up. Thankfully, an officer finally came along, needed a cab himself, and got the taxi people on the ball. The Korean guy overseeing the taxi service told him that they had reduced the number of drivers on duty because the weather was bad and they didn't think people would want to take cabs. Rolling Eyes

Laughing

I was in a taxi on my way from Co-ex to Itaewon when the snowing started and from the moment I pointed it out (he hadn't noticed it'd started) the cabbie uttered nearly every guttural sound I'd ever heard in Korean: "wa?", "uh", "aish", "d'yah", "ueyuu", etc
