|
|
I have been deluged with spam recently. Mostly I just click "spam" to trash it, but I really wonder if yahoo "takes note" like they say they do.
Here's the thing: I've ordered from JCPenney in the past, and I received an e-mail saying I just won a $500 gift voucher, but I should click on the link and provide my e-mail address. If I click on the link, what can happen? I heard these types of spam (if it is spam) can copy passwords and stuff.
Also, if I just open the e-mail, but don't download anything or click any links, can I still get spyware, etc. installed on my computer? |

What you need to do is confirm the links are taking you to where they say they are taking you.
If you just hover your mouse over the link for a second, it show you the URL, and if its different to what it says, then dont click it.
Also, if you really have won a voucher, then manually type in the url in a web browser and see if it takes you somewhere legit. |

if it was legit and they have just sent you an email why would you need to give your email address, sound like it is spam looking for proper email addresses |

True. I thought that was weird. Today I received spam saying I won an Ipod. The JCPenney "voucher" was the only thing I've ever gotten that got my hopes up a bit. I'm not a sucker, though~ |
