|
|
Anyone know of a good freeware alternative to WinRAR? I occasionally need to open RAR files that I've downloaded. WinRAR has been working well enough, but will expire on me in a few days. What to do? |

Download the full version of Winrar. "A friend of mine", did just that and it works great. |

Heres a free copy for you.
Details:
Version 3.51 Corporate Edition
Made with:
This very same version of WinRAR using an SFX script.
Instructions:
Double click the WinRAR Install file and wait a few seconds. That's all.

WinRaR never expires, by the way. It says it does, but it doesn't.
Whenever I open it a pop-up says it's "expired", blah blah blah, but I just close the pop-up and go on about my business. |

If you are sick of the pop ups, feel free to help yourself to the corporate edition I posted. |

Yes. Alzip is advertising-sponsored software. I wouldn't use it personally, though many like it.
I use Winrar and 7Zip. 7Zip handles other languages better than Winrar, and let's you change filenames inside archives, without completely rebuilding it. |

Recently I've been moving from using pirated software to using freeware alternatives and been nicely surprised with how good they are. Foobar2000 (music player) for example is a fantastic piece of software. I should take a look at 7zip. |

I tried Foobar and I didn't like it very much at all. Infact I hate most mp3 players out there. I use Winamp 2.7 still. The sound quality is very good and I like the EQ. |
