Hmmmm ... apparently a number of Jewish Rabbis are in attendence Idea

Wonder how the Zionists will try to "spin" that.

One of the issues being discussed is the oft. repeated & all-too exaggerated "magick" 6 million figure.

Why does it have to be zionists who spinthat
I don;t consider myself a zionist, yet i'm certaintly repulsed by this.

There's some Canadian professor who is attending that. He's playing this total idiot. "Oh my god, there are neo nazis and holocaust deniers here! I can't believe it! I just thought it was a conference on Zionism! Golly, most of these people are cranks! I want to come back to Canada and my cushy job as a professor. Really. I do."

Those rabbis who are pictured belong to a sect that believes the current state of Israel was not created in accordance with god and will lead to the ruin of all Jews. And they would like, as much as the Arabs, to end the current Israeli state.

True, but I imagine that in a hypothetical holocaust or takeover of Israel, those rabbis would be slaughtered with the rest of them.

You are the second person (I did it on the first page) to have to tell him that. They belong to a wild crazy sect that advocates some really insane stuff.

The more I read about this little meeting they have had over there, the more I think that the world is actually loosing her mind. I'm disgusted at this. Especially by the Left. Though, I guess they have always hated Jews. David Duke being called an "academic" by Reuters. For Christs sake. And it is criticism of the ideology that underpins all of this crap, ISLAM, that is apparently racist. We are literally handing them rope to hang the Jews. And they will do it, and we will pretend it had anything to do with Gaza and not clearly explained instructions in the koran to kill the dirty infidel.

Here's one post-conference commentary...

Quote:
Weekend Edition Saturday, December 16, 2006 I have two words to say about this week's Holocaust Summit Meeting in Tehran:

David Duke.

Well, maybe I'll say a few more. Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, was one of a few dozen participants at what was called an "a scientific conference," to debunk what organizers called the "historic lie of the Holocaust."

As Tom Lehrer once observed, sometimes the world is beyond satire.

At the end of the conference, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad went to Tehran University -- where he was reportedly booed by students, by the way -- and said:

"Just as the Soviet Union was wiped out and today does not exist, so will the Zionist regime soon be wiped out. This is God's will and what all nations want."

It is always unsettling to hear "God's will" and "wiped out" in the same sentence.

There is sometimes a tendency to dismiss President Ahmadinejad's views on the Holocaust as some kind of cranky eccentricity that may have little bearing on his policies.

But I think I've learned over the years that bigotry can be a kind of mental sickness that tends to influence everything a person does. Someone who is paranoid will see people hiding behind walls, even in the middle of a desert. Most bigots can't seem to hold a conversation for five minutes without blaming whoever they detest for -- fill in the blank -- inflation, unemployment, even bad weather. The president of Iran, who must have an awful lot to do, can't seem to go more than a week without ridiculing the truth of the Holocaust, and holding it responsible for the world's troubles...

Listen to this to hear Iranian Jews link Ahmandinejad's Holocaust-denial conference to deep-rooted Iranian worldviews and problems...

Quote:
Weekend Edition Sunday, December 17, 2006 Iran's Jewish population is estimated at about 20,000. That number is tiny compared with Iran's nearly 70 million Muslims, but it's still the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside of Israel.

This year, the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah began just a few days after the Iranian government held a two-day conference challenging the accepted history of the Holocaust.

NPR's Mike Shuster visited one Jewish family in Tehran as it gathered to celebrate Hanukkah and to talk about how this controversy affects Iran's Jewish community.

Also, just saw this in an article another poster referenced, above...

Quote:
Although organizers touted it as a scholarly gathering, the meeting angered many in countries such as Austria, Germany and France, where it is illegal to deny "aspects" of the Nazi Holocaust...

Interesting how Austrians, Germans, and French managed to express disagreement and even anger without rioting in the streets, taking or burning Iranian embassies, or, better yet, ordering the conference's organizers or speakers killed, no?

The most interesting sentence on the thread so far:

What I find fascinating about Iran is it actually is a fledgling democracy with a large segment of people who are pro American (or at least pro the American way in terms of capitalism and democracy). It's mistake is it is trying to find its own way without US help, trying to strike a balance between democracy and the theocratic needs of many people.

"Holocaust" numbers -

2000 days X 24 hours X 60 minutes X 60 seconds

That is 172,800,000 seconds

Divided by 6,000,000

One Jew, identified, detained, "arrested", transported, killed, and body disposed of every 30 seconds

Please ck the math - I think it is correct

So, 3,000 jews died per day all across Nazi Europe. So what?

60 million people died during WWII. That's 2190 days x 24 hours x 60 minutes x 60 seconds. That's 189,216,000 seconds. Divided by 60 million.

One human identified, shot at, and killed every 3 seconds. Golly. Sounds down right impossible! WWII is a myth!

It has nothing to do with seconds. Hundreds of Jews were herded into gas chambers every DAY and killed like that. It wasn't like they were lined up one by one like a factory assembly.

By your logic the atom bombing of Hiroshima must never have occured because so many people were killed in a second. Rolling Eyes

BB,

I posted a couterpoint article in the thread about Rez Aslan a month or so ago about the mistranslations of Ahmandinejad. Very similiar to the sensational and planted story of Iran making the Jews wear yellow stars of David which appeared in national newspapers and painted the Iranian regime many horrible colours.

A lot of propaganda flying about. I wish people could just speak plainly and see a little clearer. Ahmandinejad is a revolutionary , rhetoric spouting type. True. And I think his beliefs on the holocaust disgusting.

Still, I don't think he is a war monger, not at all and his actions belie this... Further, we can see in the local elections, Iranians don't want him to follow in this thunderous rhetoric and just as George needs to tone up his diplomacy, Ahmandinejad needs to tone it down....

http://www.counterpunch.org/tilley08282006.html for a full account and some insight into the Ahmandinejad mindset.

Quote:
The most infamous quote, "Israel must be wiped off the map", is the most glaringly wrong. In his October 2005 speech, Mr. Ahmadinejad never used the word "map" or the term "wiped off". According to Farsi-language experts like Juan Cole and even right-wing services like MEMRI, what he actually said was "this regime that is occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time."

She explains much about the attitude of many Muslims vis a vis the holocaust and Israel. I do agree there is a large information gap in Muslim cultures but I would also caution that in many Muslim communities, the notion and truth of the Holocaust is better known and lived than in much of the west (Morocco for one where it was a very instrumental part of the national curriculum unlike our own). Her opinion is very much like that of Edward Said who said that the two issues, Israel and the Holocaust should be seperated and the latter not used as propaganda for continued atrocities by Israel.

Quote:
Skepticism about the Holocaust narrative has started to take hold in the Middle East not because people hate Jews but because that narrative is deployed to argue that Israel has a right to "defend itself" by attacking every country in its vicinity. Middle East publics are so used to western canards legitimizing colonial or imperial takeovers that some wonder if the six-million-dead argument is just another myth or exaggerated tale. It is dismal that Mr. Ahmadinejad seems to belong to this sector.
