Here's the scoop- I have a elementary class with four girls and five boys. The girls have a STRONG dislike for each other.
A vocabulary test I gave on Monday had an easy extra credit question- "What do you want for Christmas?"
One of the girls answered- "Jenny to dye and burn in he11"
Ah, how would YOU handle this one?
Sorry about the simplistic title- it's how I have to speak ALL freakin' day- even to the Korean co-teachers. |

| I would correct the misspelled word, congratulate her on such a well-constructed response, and ask her to scale her avatar down to a less ridiculous size. |

| Seriously? I would let her know that that kind of language is not appropriate for school/hagwon. Then I would ask her if everything is okay. |

| That's friggin' great. She even got, "burn in hell," in there. I'd give her top marks for audacity and suggest that next time she use an exclamation mark. |

I have an extremely bright student named Vincent. He is easily the most advanced student that I have. He is a great student to work with, because he has developed a wonderful sense of the English language and is actually quite funny.
He is also always trying to get me to teach him curse words because, "Teacher, what if I go to America and someone says something bad to me? How would I know??" However, I suspect he just wants the sheer amusement of hearing me saying them, because his swearing vocabulary seems to be quite extensive.
Once the entire class was taking a test, and he is a very meticulous student, so he takes a long time to do written assignments and tests. He only had 5 minutes left and a lot of test to do, and he's making all sorts of exasperated noises interspersed with both English and Korean. Then he says, quite loud, "F-U-C-K-I-N-G." Exactly like that. He spelled it out instead of saying it. None of the other students seemed to notice and he gave me a look of horror. He thought the hammer was going to come down hard, but honestly, I was trying hard not to laugh.
I just sternly said, "Vincent." He apologized, and the class went on. After class, I asked him not to say that again. And he hasn't. But it still makes me chuckle thinking about it. |

| At my old hogwan a student wrote that he "just wanted to die" for Christmas. I brought it to the attention of the Korean teachers and they just replied he was sad because he didn't get accepted into a good high school. |

I would praise the girl for expression her feeling and emotion so well and encourage her to write more about how Jenny should die and burn in hell.
It may become extremely stimulating lesson for her in explicit expression of ones feeling and emotion. |

I would flame others and offer no help to those who need it. Oh, I was talking about a certain poster on here. |
