|
|
I wake up at 6:30, I leave for school at 7:30.
I live right across from an E-mart in an officetel. At 1:00 am they decided to do their maintenance and construction. They're cutting up the road in their parking lot at 1:00 am! The noise is insane! @@#@#$#@$
I feel like I could rip someone's heart out and feed it to them before they die.
After about 10 minutes I decided to go over there and do something about it. There's about 6 grunts and a supervisor. I said, "Shillye Chiman" they looked at me and ignored me. I said it a few more times and they ignored me and went to work. After about 5 minutes the supervisor has to walk past me and I say to him in Korean, "Hey Adjosshi, why can't you see me?" He looks at me and finally gives me a "nay?"
So I lost it and yelled and swore about the noise and I showed him my phone and told him I was dialing 119. He looked at me and said, "there aren't any apartments around" to which I pointed out all the buildings right across the street where people live. He starts to walk away so I pull out my phone and call the police. That gets his attention and tells the workers to stop for a moment and then goes inside.
I wait and wait...and then two security guards from inside Emart come and ask me what the problem is. So I tell them, "It's too freakin' loud, people are trying to sleep, I'm a teacher and I have to wake up early tomorrow morning." They go and talk to the workers and supervisor and come back to me and say, "only 5 more minutes, we're very very sorry, only 5 more minutes, very very sorry." I say, "ok" and I walk home.
That was 20 minutes ago and I'm on here right telling the story because IT HASN'T STOPPED!!!! |

and we're all listening.
not a mocking post, just a statement of reality. a bunch of english teachers, kyopos who like to *beep* with english teachers, and a few married dudes who have other jobs are listening.
the situation will be dealt with poste-haste. |

Tonight I went to e-mart in Daechi, and yes, they are remodeling it...is it the same one?
But I think they suck now because it seems they discontinued a lot of foreign goods. And they never have enough chicken. I understand they buy a certain amount for the day and let it sell out, but I am a customer, wanting to spend money in their store. Frankly, I could find nothing to spend my money on there tonight, and I think that's bad business. |

Yeah same thing happens in other stores. Best show up earlier in the day. |

| One item that should be bought in bulk before coming to Korea are those foam earplugs. Well, I know they can be found here somewhere but I've never seen them. There was construction next to where I live for two months and those saved my sanity. |

you just haven't lived in korea if you haven't lived next to a construction site.
When I lived in Bucheon, a 2 story house across from me was torn down and a 3 or 4 story apartment building was built. What a pleasure that was. |

Dude, crazy_arcade... that really sucks. I mean it. I can't fathom the justification for doing noisy construction work in the middle of the freakin' night.
When I was in Thailand the hotel I stayed at (a very expensive one) was in the middle of a renovation project which the proceeded to work on at 2 on a SUNDAY morning. Good heavens. |

| OP, you might want to try to find out how long the construction will go on for. If it's a long project, I'd move, just to save your sanity. |

| I had to put up with cats howlin' and a humpin' in the bushes out my garden for two hours last night... is that better or worse than construction?? |

To think that you'd get sensible responses from the majority of the posters here was a generous thought on your behalf.
That the average K-Guy would give a rack...
How about a beer in I'taewon? At least you'd find a sense of normalcy in the place "that understands us," etc.
Good luck, Poster!
