Extension for 4 or 5 months - no problem. Happens all the time. I am surprised that your school won't let you extend until the end of the mid-term break. It is easier for them to get new teachers in August (after our graduations) than in March (3 months before westerners grad.)
You can always try to get your extension from the Office of Education in your district so it will be a continuance of your current contract and not require a visa run or loss of your air ticket and severance.
New visa for 4-5 months - almost unheard of. |

My school wants me to stay another year or nothing. I've been trying to get them to let me stay till the next term but they wont do it. I have no idea why. They give me housing allowance, so the apartment isn't an issue. So I need to get a new job for a short period of time. What should I do? |

Like I said, talk to your local or district O.E. (office of education). Use someone other than your school's foreigner-minder to assist you with translation.
A simple extension is only 30k won and an application form as compared to 3 million to recruit a new foreigner from abroad. |

The program is actually privatly funded at my school. The monye doesn't come from the government. The school is in charge of raising the dough and has control.
after talking to some people I think I may be able to get another year long job and just take the time I need off to go to my brothers wedding. I hope I can get another public school job in April. From what I hear from friends there are still some spots sometimes. What are your experiences? |
