It was!! I finally got in touch with the webmaster and, not surprisingly, they'd blocked all international IP's because of hackers. The good people at the State of Alaska were kind enough to unblock my address.
Way to go Alaska technogeeks!!

Conversely, they could have just kept up with their updates and hired a person who's job it was to keep up on security holes. But hey, it's easier to just block the rest of the world. That's where all the hackers are anyway (except for the biggest hacking convention in the world, which happens to be in the US). I hate people who inconvenience everyone for the SIMPLE reason that they can't be BOTHERED to do their job properly. There's my little rant. I'm glad they solved the problem for you krats. (I just hope your information is safe; If that's their security policy, then things are not secure) |

While I appreciate your rant you have to remember: we're talking about Alaska here...
there are only 600,000 people in the whole state... there just aren't enough geeks around to staff positions like that.
Besides... Alaska is always at least 5 years behind everyone else in technology stuff. |
