I am an American and a proud one at that. And one that is not a size 2 or 4 or even 8. So I get alot of stuff from Ebay. The clothes here are just not very well made and well UGLY.

So Mr. Ebay is my friend I ordered a couple of pull overs to get me throught the casual part of winter. (I also have a chest as it were and so shopping on e-bay is just easier. ) Haven't had a bit of trouble until recently and one package that didn't arrived. It was sent supposedly air parcel post which normally takes 2 or so weeks. Done this a dozen times and usually it is more like 10 days.

I sent an email about the above mentioned clothes that were shipped supposedly around November 6. Here is the reply.

Quote:
The post office told me, like I told you, 4-6 weeks. But since it's the holiday season everything is taking a very long time. Since you live in a communist country I wouldn't be suprised if they confiscate the mail from the USA anyway. Tracking says it has arrived in your country. Hope they give it to you. Wouldn't want to be there. Stay safe. Keep in touch. Let me know when it finally arrives. ****** at ********.

Okay I laughed my butt off now you can. I did send an email back gently explaining the Korean War. There is a reason for stereotypes.

You now get one free go at the Yanks. Heavy sigh! My Christmas gift to you!

Dear xxxxx,

Your lack of productivity in this matter saddens me and our Dear Leader.
But not as much as it saddens our hearts that you are held prisoner by the fascist imperialist capitalist dogs of the US of A. No doubt it is the aggressive anti Korean policies of the US postal service that has delayed this parcel( I know you are silenced from revealing the truth).

Love
Jaderedux and our Dear Beloved Leader

I've got a good Canadian one for you. Last year for the election I had my ballot mailed to me here. The address said Seoul, Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Yes, they thought I was in North Korea. A few months later they sent me a letter asking me to confirm all the details on my registration form. Several months later, they sent another message again, basically saying "We're still waiting for you to confirm all these details. WTF?"

Somewhere there's a picture of Elections Canada sending me mail to Seoul, North Korea.

i think the problem lies in the "democratic" part. i don't think people realize that if i country has to advertise the word "democratic" or "democracy" in its name, it's probably not a democracy.

my mother was worried about calling me-- "which korea are you in, honey?" because calling one of them (DPRK) is much more expensive than calling the other (ROK)

Hmmm. You wouldn't be related to Harriet Ann and Ocala Pugh, would you? They are from your neighborhood.

(Description of them at the bottom of p. 4 Read Any Good Books Lately? thread)

i think she was looking at Skype rates in particular. or maybe it was some Baby Bell long distance program.

i'm sure you'd wind up talking to someone very important. and then they'd probably go to a labour camp.

When I mention to people we used to live in Korea for 4 years, quite a few have asked "You lived in North Korea?" and I'm like "uh...."

Next time I'm going to have some fun and say "ya, Pyongyang's such a happening place."
