There is a big push to take Christmas out of the West. Now, most on here know I don't exactly hold any religion, let alone Christianity in very high regard (to be honest, it is superstitious barbarianism from a time we should be past by now holding us back). So, with that out of the way, I see no reason why Christmas is being killed by secularism. I am sure most immigrants don't care, or are probably offended that they are being taken out, not that they are there. I just think it is going to far, and again, I am most definitely not a Christian who cares anything about it being baby Jesus's "birthday" (which it isn't).

I personally cannot imagine caring that much about a freakin' tree that's already been cut down.

I get the feeling that more and more people need a moral crusade to make themselves feel good. That is a very short version of my feelings on this.

I agree, a good short version.

I get very disgusted at all the mean spiritedness and disrespect for other faiths. Both ways. In the instance of the airport Christmas trees and the rabbi and also the other way, watching yesterday a minister lambast the governor (was it Kentucky?) for sending out Christmas cards with the face of an Afghani girl.

That other faiths feel compelled to complain only reflects bad on their own self (the group, not the faith in total).

That minister raising a ruckus about how he though the government should have sent out a card with a nativity scene, just makes me want to scream!!!

What bothers me about this whole deal is that people are getting in a snit about "Happy Holidays" and claiming that it is meant to 'de-emphasize' Christmas. Wrong. People have been saying Happy Holidays (or putting it on shop windows) as a way to include New Year's in one short greeting. For years no one said anything because everyone understood what it meant, but when some people realized that Happy Holidays COULD be taken to include Hannukka and whatever, they got pissed off.

I take it that some Christians are getting unreasonably aggressive and playing the martyr card for some sick reason that I don't understand. It seems like they want everything to be about them.

That's it. I think that many of the martyr-complex Christians see the promotion of other holidays as the lessening of Christmas. Christmas has, traditionally, been the nuber one holiday in the U.S. and it pisses people off when they think that they are being shorted by less celebrated holidays.

It's kinda like the Muslim congressman and being sworn in on the Qu'ran. The whole "He should still be sworn in on the Bible" thing is absolutely fucking ridiculous. It's as if people are afraid that God won't like the U.S. anymore because we're letting the heathens run amok!

And another thing:

People used to whine that some stores put up signs that said 'Merry Xmas' (because they were too ignorant to know that X is a Greek letter).

And ANOTHER thing: The same people have been bit*hing about the commercialization of Christmas for at least a hundred years and 'Happy Holidays' is NOT about that.
