He's a rather ugly character, but I don't believe he should have been jailed. Free speech also means having to listen to crap you don't like, and anyone is free to discredit his 'work.'

Quite true. Jailed, he becomes a martyr - free he remains a laughingstock.

Well said. However, I can't help but have a bit of sympathy for such laws in the home of Nazism. If your nation has few movie theaters and little in the way of a culture of movie going, yelling fire in a theater might seem more to you like a matter of free speech and up for debate. However where a glorification of a Nazi past is a real threat, I can't help but feel in those limited places holocaust denial is tantamount to yelling fire in a theater.

Good point. Didn't Austria recently elect a nazi apologist, who was promising to protect the country from immigrants?
