Well, they are essentially allowing themselves to become a propaganda tool for the Chinese government, not that it matters. |

Not really. Walmart is opening this Communist Party HQ for the same reason people join the Communist Party in China, to gain connections with gov't officials. Almost all the richest and most successful businessmen in China were once gov't officials or have direct connections with them.
As Yata said, does the poster think this is 1952, when Communism was on the march and perceived as an attractive ideology? |

....they should be careful about spreading themselves too thin; what with being their own propaganda tool. |

The system of communism is a system of total state economic control which goes totally against the ideals of freedom as such I consider all those who would promote it, uphold it or support it enemies of freedom and democracy. |

China is different. It is a communist system with capitalist reform. It is niether completely communist nor capitalist.
Though when it comes to China, the way they try to control the media and everything there people are exposed to vis as vis, censorship , political prison camps, is disgusting. |

Heh. I'm guessing you aren't American. We Americans value freedom and democracy highly as throughout our history people have fought and died to save it.
Communism, by what it is goes against all of that.
Furthermore, communism has the highest potential for corruption. Sure, US Politics arent exactly squeaky clean but it hasnt gotten to the point where we are ruled by a totalitarian government who censors the media and blocks websites on the internet that criticize it or sends it's political opponents to prison camps or has them killed or anything of that nature. |

Are you saying that regeims like those of Pinochet, or Hussein, who are happy to allow the economy to be owned by anybody with enough money to buy a chunk of it are better? These guys, and many more like them represses personal and political freedom as much as any communist government.
My point is that personal and political oppression have little to do with how much the state controls the economy. However many politicians in the past have raised the communist bogey to be allowed to reduce freedoms in other areas. Hitlers early political successes were had by bringing out the communist threat.
I think the capital should be in private hands, but there should be strong government legislation to move the economy in a direction for the greatest good.
