|
|
At the university where I teach, exams finished today and I quickly put my grades on the university website (we do them ourselves). Now it is waiting time for complaints and I'm quite excited about it. I gave out quite a large number of lower grades this semester and failed a large number from one class in particular (electronic majors) instead of letting them sqeeze through like they may have thought they would.
Some of them had shown so much disrespect this year, that I'd love to rip into them if they complain... because this would be my chance to say 'you got the grade you deserved for doing nothing, except making the class something that I didn't look forward to teachng '. So, I'm expecting about 10 complaints. Anyone else have any yet? Any funny stories? |

Tomorrow is the deadline for our school. Most of my co-workers put their grades up on Monday...I didn't understand.
I got mine up tonight. Then the kids don't have enough time to biatch about their marks. The classes that I'd change don't need changing. The classes that did poorly get what they deserve. |

My grades have been in for a week already. Not one sob story.
Last year I had 3 per semester, none of which resulted in changed grades. |

After 1 night:
Students complaining: 1
Situation - The student wanted an A, but received a B+, because only 5 grades in her class could be A's. She was the 7th highest. Had other classes (which I had tested and taught the same) been included in the curve, she would have received an A... but such is life. The student's email was responded to.
Changes made: none |

The day we institutionalize grades according to request is the day we should give degrees as receipts of payment.
To hell with grade appeals.

I put mine in last Fri but my students wont see them until next Fri and I'll be long gone by then, I will have my records with me but I warned them I dont do changes unless I messed up and I keep my records on spreadsheets so I cant mess up the math
However I tell my students they can find out their grade 24 hours after I give the final exam and a fair share do and so far no complaints
At my wifes univ she put in grades last week and this week was gripe week and she only had 4 students complain and those were minor. She was pleasantly suprised. To say the least she loves it at her 2 year school |
