Knowing what you know about hiring processes in Korea, if you were a korean parent, would you entrust your kids in the english academies or in the camps run by foreign teachers? |

For education or safety reasons, or both?
I think your question may cause a hasty generalization about foreigners, one that we are already having to fight. It all comes down to the credentials of the teacher in deciding what is a good English camp. |

Of course you would, because that's what the other "good" parents do, and you are responsible for giving your children the best opportunity to succeed. That means you should spend as much money as the other parents and make sure your kid "studies" more than the other next kid. And by "more", I mean longer and with flashier programs. Camps and programs are also a form of babysitting, so you child is occupied, because free time is just time wasted time.
Personally, I would trust my kids with foreigners over Korean teachers because we don't hit them or degrade them, but that's a western point of view. |

I wouldn't send my kids to any camps or academies, not because of the teaching staff, but because kids are kids and they need time away from the ridiculous constant 'being busy for the sake of being busy' that goes on in this country. |

If I was a Korean parent, of course I would "trust" hagwons and 'camps' - two reasons come to mind:
1) babysitter
2) everyone knows that the kids will learn English by osmosis!!

Not until I visitied the school and researched exactly who those teachers were... educational backgrounds and the like. |

If I were a Korean parent:
1) I'd want my kid taught by a Brit. A British accent will take my kid far in America.
2) I'd not cram his ass in hagwon 6 nights a week.
3) I'd probably want to meet his foreign teacher and just make sure he's not a freak.

Sure I would, but I'd definitely shop around and investigate first. |

They don't entrust their kids in car seats, why entrust them with a foreigner? |

Why does everyone use that term?
In the future only say 'osmosis' when you are talking about water. Cause that's what it is.
Telepathy is much better.
If I was a Korean parent I'd trust in the hagwon system 100%.
Like every other Korean I'd be brainwashed into thinking it works and more is better. Hey Min-ho. You have 30 mins....what are you doing? Having fun? Having fun is for when you're retired and mooching/living off your children.
I'd also probably believe in fan death and the magical properties of food. |

If everyone is using that term, then it's no longer just about water. |

Bascially...I would visit the academies before enrolling my students and ask to see a lesson. |

Knowing what I know about hogwans? No way, Jos! In general, they're overpriced for what you get, the teachers - Korean and foreign - are not usually qualified enough and the way they learn with this constant memorization of useless passages and vocabulary that they just forget 10 minutes after their tests is a WASTE OF TIME that they could be using to play soccer or piano.
I'd send my kid to the US or Canada or somewhere for their holidays to play and learn English. It costs about as much, I would think but be more efficient and effective. |
