It appears that people have scammed each other enough that Ebay auctions now require a confirmed mailing address for all shipping.

Why I am so upset? Well, I hadn't auctioned in some time, since I moved to Korea two months ago. I needed to purchase a gift for my sister. She is a good sister and she does not have great financial ability. Buying her a 200 dollar cell phone was my way of showing her that I missed her and money was no issue.

However, the $20 charge to my "verified bank account," which had no money in it. And the 5 dollars this jerk kept from my payment is really grinding on me. My sister has no gift now. I can't seem to find an auction that will ship to unconfirmed addresses. The person I bought from didn't specify this but then denied my payment after the fact.

I can not confirm my address because all of my mail goes to my Dad's PO Box and I was shipping to my Mom's home for christmas morning surprise.

Now, I hate Ebay.
How does your shipping address matter. Isn't the receipt of payment from a verified account enough? I guess not.

I have had items shipped to unconfirmed addresses, but not $200 electronics.

Always use a credit card, and if something goes wrong, dispute the charges with your credit card company.

The $20 fee from your bank was for insufficient funds. The $5 fee from the seller was a relisting fee (cheap - most charge more).

If you use paypal, change your account information. Using a credit card is a good idea while you're overseas (and, can be done through paypal). You can also verify at least two addresses through paypal also.

I have both a P.O. box and my physical address verified. Also helps when a seller won't ship to a P.O. box.

If you have problems changing the info, paypal has a customer service on-line.
