Ok, I admit it. We were stupid. Despite knowing that both ETIK and Jeju Oxford English Village were blacklisted, my boyfriend and I still sent them our documents (transcripts, diplomas, copy of passport, etc.). We thought we could handle them, if we knew in advance that they'd try to take advantage.
Fortunately, we came to our senses and told them that since they were asking us to come without visas (they "have" our visa numbers but won't tell us), we told them to f... forget it.
Now their emails are bouncing back, their website isn't working, and we are out our original diplomas.
I'm ok with this. I can pay the $35 for a replacement... but do we have to worry about identity theft?
For the record, they still deny ever doing any wrongdoing, and are angry at us for believing what "bad people" write online. |

ETIK RECRUITING. ANOTHER KOREAN SCAM! [KOREA(South)]
Ever heard of this outfit? AVOID ETIK RECRUITING and treat them is as if they were SARS. For 3 weeks they have been trying to recruit several characters I created along with various resumes I sent to them. They make wild claims, etc. They lie frequently and then stand back and play stupid if you hold them to XYZ statements, date, time, etc.
Theyve been under investigation by two embassies for about 5 months that I know of. They also wrote me directly as I made an application to them and told me one thing, while they told another applicant (also me using another e-mail address) something about the same school, totally different. Wages, hours, ages of students, housing, visa, airfare, and more, one big whopping lie after another. Get smart, fish around, and soon you will see, the entire world of ESL is one big game. Now and then you get lucky and find a great job that you will love. But overall, those days are long gone.
ETIK likes to blame things on "communication" or "cultural" differences. Minor things mostly. Such as 40 hour work weeks versus 25 hours, or 1.8 million won versus 2.7 million won. Paid housing, actually means that YOU PAY for it, nothing to serious. Just any and all information that is essential and required to make an informed and educated decision regarding employment.
ETIK, just say no!

They just tried to hire one of my decoys today again using a complete base of lies. Here is their info:

Why would anyone create pseudo-IDs and try to get those IDs hired???
About the degrees: You could threaten to do a negative post about this company on Dave's ESL if they dont give the diplomas back.... Oh, wait... |

The documents went to someone named "Sam" in Seoul, not the recruiting company, who will not return my emails.
I recently found out the owner of the camp has been in jail.
Forgive me for thinking something unscrupulous might be done with the documents.
Sheesh! |

I wonder if he is the same guy who started that English camp in Jeju last year that wasn't licensed and ended up getting shut down because it was illegal?
I dont think you're going to see that copy of your diploma again. |

I did two years in a row. Worked for a camp...They owed me money. I told them I'd get even with them. So I applied using my friends picture and fake info (he knew about it).
The day before camp they sent an email. I sent one back from a PC bang talking about Karma. What comes around goes around.
So the next winter came around and I applied again using a picture of a girl who was deported. She was hired. Day before camp "Where are you?"
Gottcha again dumbasses. I was to busy this year to apply. MI'll give them a break and then call immigration on them in the summer. I just feel bad about screwing over the foreigners that'll be working illegally there. |

I recently got this email, in response to me saying I wasn't going, and ASKING FOR MY DOCUMENTS BACK. Let's make it so they "can't do business any more!!!!!"
Dear A****
We knew that some bad people put bad stories on eslcafe.com.
But if it is true, we can't do this business anymore.
The fact that we can't give 100 % happiness to applicants is true.
But we didn't give any damages for money and mind to applicant.
The more important thing is that they never gave their names and contact numbers or e-mail address.
Thanks,
Han. General manager. |
