Post your resume online (here or elsewhere). I wasn't finding great stuff but then I did just that. I still got 90% poop but some offers were good and a small few were really good. I found my right one soon afterwards. Just make sure you set up an alternate email and don't give out your phone # on the post. I did this my second time around.
As for perks to look for I'd say pay is the major one (just asking for more makes it look like you won't settle for just any old job). You won't usually win on vacation, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Demand single housing (trust me) and be generally stiff on your housing conditions. Hours of work, how much prep, hours of extra work outside the classroom, these are all things to work with. Be flexible but not stubborn. Anything you see as undesirable in a contract is worth negotiating.
Huge piece of advice: They need you much more than you need them. There's tons of jobs out there so don't just settle for nothing. If its got most of what you want but not 100% its probably good, but you can always get more of what's important to you. Comprosime but don't give up. And, of course, go with your gut along with your knowledge. One school may sound great....but... |

About the contract...if there are any deposits just tell right off to take them out. If they don't trust you, you probably don't want to work for them. |

Great advice spliff. I already have housing, so a deposit would be very strange. If anyone knows of some good public jobs in the city, please let me know. |

I like what they wrote:
Quote: |
* Cancellation of contract :
1. Sleeping in a class
2. Beating students
3. Absence without leave
4. Iligal substance abuse
5. Breach of a contract
6.A person who act a violence toward students and colleague |
So I guess anything else is NOT a violation of the contract...
Beating students! Does anyone actually do this? |
