So my gf bought me a ps2 from here (korea), along with SoCom3 game. The PS2 asked me what language when I started it, I choose English. Then I go to play SoCom and its all Korean.
So what are my options, is there a way to choose a language for the game, or I just have to buy games that offer English options?
Does it need to be modded, I dont know if it is or not, to play English games?
I dont have any games from home, so can I buy games in English here?
Please help if you know, I did a search but didnt see this specific question answered. My gf dropped some $$ and now shes pretty bummed out, as I am also.
Thanks

If you bought the Socom in Korea, as well, it may not be playable in English. Not sure on the specifics of that game, though.
If you wanted to play, for example, North American-based games, you'd have to get it modded (you can bring it to Yongsan and have them do it for you, not sure on price). You'd then have to either have someone buy them for you on base, have them shipped over, or download and burn them on to dvds. There are other options, such as a flip-top lid with a loadup disc, that are less convenient, but don't void your PS2's warranty.
Some games actually play in multiple languages, or English only with Korean menu options. For example, I bought MLB 06 The Show for PSP at Hyundai Dept. Store (PSP games are regionless, so it plays on my US PSP), and the only evidence of it being Korean is that when the game loads up it says Sony Computer Entertainment Korea when the game is loading.
The back of the game cases should say what playable and menu languages are available. |

Only a few of the PS2 games are in English. Most are only in Korean. You can get it modded and then buy copied English games or the real ones from other regions, but if you do you won't be allowed online access if you were planning on doing that. If you didn't care about the online features, I would definitely recommend getting it modded. You can do that at Yongsan and some other places as well. Copied games are cheap too. |

thanks, very helpful. I ventured down to the local mart and noticed on the back of the games they say the language the disc plays in. |

Here in the Daegu area I know you can get it modded for about 80k. includes 5 games I think. Then any burned games you get cost 7k. Turned me into a game geek again! |

If you want some details give me a PM.
I know a guy who can mod it and get you pretty much any game you want for it.
He's always been nice and he speaks English. |
