There's a 50% off for 1st six months on the beginner's hosting packages (linux or MS hosting) at 1and1.com - one of the super hosting services, IMO.

For 1st six months, $1.50/month and after that it'd be $2.99/month.

The specs are
- 1 domain name included
- 5 GB space
- 250GB traffic
- 10 MySQL DBs
- php3/4/5
More details at http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/HostingBeginner

If you're interested, it would be great if you could use my 1and1 affiliate link: http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=6441064 , but dont consider this as an advert or solicitation! Smile

As an aside: If you use a hosting service, what's your hosting provider and how much do you pay for it? I am a 1and1.com subscriber for the past 3 yrs and currently paying $2.99/month.

All I can say is you get what you pay for. I wouldn't spend less than 9$ a month on hosting.

I know 1and1 has been getting lots of bad reports on the forums I follow and clearly it's due to their low pricing and overselling.

I use IXwebhosting and I am pretty happy with them so far.

For the plan I am on:

-up to 8 domains and 300 subdomains hosted on the same account
-300,000 mb space and 1500 gb of bandwidth
-supports mass uploads and .htaccess control (great for photo galleries)
-3 free domain regs
-two dedicated IP addresses
-5000 pop3 email accounts
-$6.45 USD/month

My only complaint is that their Perl module isn't the most recent version. This forced me to change my blogware from MT to Expression Engine. I am actually glad to have made the change anyways since EE rules.

I've been pretty satisfied with both their service and support. Its an advantage that I've got ssh/scp access to the webspace. Dont need fancy cpanel blah-blah, multi installers etc... as advertised by many other providers and a cheaper price for my needs.

I've also got shell access. if it works for you and meets your needs then it's a good host, but I still think you get what you pay for.
