Anyone know where I can find a decent Reuben Sandwich in Seoul. Restaurant at the Westin Chosun used to have them but they took them off the menu. Coming to Seoul for christmas and want to explore the posibility of a decent deli (if possible). Thanks |

Reubens I have not found in all of this slant-leaning land, but a good sandwich shop with real pastrami meat and good roast beef (done the right way with on-site roasted beef) I have found.
It is behind (south) of the Pasco Building (the one with the ugly twisted steel sculpture at the front of the building) along the same line of stores as the Ibis Hotel. When I find the number to the place (it's called Frankie's), I will post it in an edit to this post.
I used to eat at Subways all the time, but I eat here more. It also has a very good grilled mushroom sandwich which is good for the vegetarians among you. The place is just clean (which I cannot say for most of the Subway shops). |

It is equidistant between the Samsung station and the Seolleung Station on the Green Line (Number 2 line, I have no idea what stop it is but it is the one near the Coex Mall). The posco Building is along the main Road between the two stations a little closer to the Seolleung Station on the south side of the street (Tae-hae-ran Ro).
I am passing by that place in a few minutes. I will try to get the number. |

Yeah, I could swear seeing a Reuben sandwich in Seoul or sometime and wondering to myself, "Wow, a Reuben sandwich in Seoul!" I in fact remember corned beef hash too, but I can't remember what restaurant or where?!
(Neo, have you ever had the feeling that you might be on drugs but you weren't? What if what you see are all an illusory acid flashback? Wouldn't that be kew--I mean evil?!--Where in the world is that "Talk like you were from the Matrix movie" thread?) |

There's a Frankies in Jeongja.The wife said it's small and a rip-off.A 4 bite sandwich for 7 or 8k.
Beget that.
The Subway next to Aloha Burger seems Ok.The chicken breast has an ample amount.Looking at the meats today, the roast beef and turkey breast looked perfectly ok.The salami looked pretty bland.
When I was in Yeouido I used to order Tantalus turkey breast sandwiches a couple of times a week. Are they still around? |

Yes, they are expensive. I agree. But authentically is that, I figure.
God, I miss being in the States! I need my Western food "fix" once or twice a week, and a junkie don't care how much per bite, I guess. |

I used to work at Seolleung a while back, and would go to Frankie's regularly for lunch. Yes, they are small, but it's the real deal. Try the Wallstreet. They also serve a TINY breakfast before 11am including eggs, beacon/sausage, and hashbrowns. This was my favorite sandwich place until I found Quiznos... mmmmm.
Also, there are many Subway restaurants around the city (and most of them suck), but the one that makes a BLT is the one in Itaewon. They also do the old-style cut!!! Yes, I'm a sandwich junkie.
I want this shirt. |
